I’m learning to not treat piglet’s fiber as too precious to touch. I struggle to let myself learn. I tend to want to wait for some impossible future where I’m perfect with no practice.
I’ve been learning to hand card and roll punis with 100% angora because life is too short to let your bunny’s fiber sit untouched in a bag
Not perfect but good!
Rather proud of my husband’s first attempt at a holz hausen
I contributed absolutely nothing to the creation of our beautiful wood pile!
What if the vessel was the most tired stoned guy in the world
A little underproofed before baking (my pan was too small and it was bake or overflow) and overdone (next time I’ll use my regular loaf pan and not the cast iron) but one of my better rye bread crumbs to date! Ideal vehicle for cream cheese and smoked salmon, butter & pickles, stinky cheese, and smoked oyster dip
This Lupine perennis is a little confused but so fun to get a sneak peak of the flowers on something I started from seed this year.
My attempt at Gotland Limpa after many moons of not baking a single thing.
The start of what I hope will be an annual and ever expanding pumpkin and gourd display. I painted each with a potent vinegar and ghost pepper sauce in hopes that I haven’t created an extravagant squirrel feast. In a few years time I’m hoping to have clematis virginiana growing up the opposite side of the porch and various native ferns in the front bed which will really add to the vibe
Unfortunately I made this salt pig today
Milkweed Tussock Moth caterpillar on the butterfly weed this morning.
Busting out the new spindle for some baby alpaca. I started with a yak and silk blend but after several months of not spinning it was too fast and slick. The alpaca has the perfect grip and slide for easy spinning today
So perfectly camouflaged!!

New yellow door and painted porch + a little cobblestone path I installed today in what will be the spring ephemeral forest garden
My birthday signals the turn towards autumn. Mornings are fresh, crisp, and cool and I’m suddenly interested in fiber again.
A new drop spindle
hand roo’d Shetland roving
and biggest indulgence of all, a lazy Kate for hand spindles. No more shoebox or holding things with my toes.
happy birthday to me :)
Summer 2025
Despite just starting from seed this year the anise hyssop and black eyed susans are flowering profusely. The hyssop especially is alive with bumblebees and little pollinating wasps. Can’t wait until the rest of the meadow fills in and starts flowering too!
8/11/25 Painted my front door this color yesterday. Gotta do a few touch ups and finish power washing and painting the porch before I show the finished product.
