1969 Jensen Interceptor II by Ruairidh MacVeigh Via Flickr: The Jensen Interceptor, probably one of Britain's most obscure sports cars of the 1970's. Built during a time of motoring turmoil in the late 1960's, the Interceptor was Jensen's attempt at getting in with the trend of sports cars filling up the market such as a variety of Lotus and Ford cars such as the Capri. However, the Interceptor faded into curiosity as the 70's went on, with many reporting unreliability, or failing to match its contemporaries. Either way the cars never truly sold in the numbers hoped, with only 6,400 cars produced. Eventually the car ended with the Jensen company in 1976, the company being finished off by the ill-fated and badly timed introduction of the Jensen-Healey, although in recent years replica cars fitted with much more reliable engines from Corvettes have been produced to combine that magnificent Carrozzeria styling with some good old fashioned raw motor power.
