I have to say though that as much as I appreciate that Dick gets to gainfully contribute to the mission as Robin again, I don’t like this trend of retconning every character-defining bad thing that’s ever happened to him out of the story. B&R: YO seems to overwrite R:YO, so Harvey’s beat down and its repercussions never happened. He didn’t get fired or have to rebuild his life from that. He didn’t have a poorly-defined and turbulent relationship with Bruce that left him uncertain of whether or not he was really loved or wanted. Yeah, his parents died, but he had Bruce, who wasn’t nearly as rough of a mentor as he was in the last several universes. That’s the difference between him and Bruce: Bruce. Has this person overcome any adversity in his own right? I’m told over and over again that Dick’s character is supposed to be about hope and light in the darkness but I’m increasingly wondering, dude, what darkness?
He’s like a light in a room that already has the lights on.
Dick and Bruce should never be allowed to be normal about each other ever and it should always be disturbingly clear to everyone around them. Like getting slapped in the face repeatedly with Dick's diagnosable levels of loyalty to Bruce and Bruce's deep pride and trust in Dick and then neither of them seeing or acknowledging anything because who has time for emotional honesty when there's lives to be saved 25/8.
WOWIE!!!!!!! I'm so glad to finally be done with this, it has been a thorn in my side since I originally started this lil comic back in May!! I lowkey included the entire process and this poor comics life story over on patreon. I really went through it with this one lol
Trans Superman my beloved.... I'm a little late but Trans awareness week did give me the final little push I needed to finish this

in the lighthouse robert pattinson plays a man that has beef with a bird. and then in the boy and the heron he plays a bird-man that has beef with a boy. this leads me to belive his next role will be a man that has beef with a boy who is also a bird. and this is how i know robin is going to be in the batman 2.
Bruce is all I have...

the way this panel is framed is crazy to me because you CAN'T see mary’s trapeze wire snapping… it just looks like she saw her husband fall and is reacting in fear...
makes me think that in some other universe (my head) maybe her trapeze did not snap maybe she saw her husband fall and she in that moment decided she couldn't live without him maybe she let go...
genuinely i think that’s the most romantic concept i’ve heard in a long time like it is so compelling to me personally like i have no recollection of it ever actually happening or being implied but. in my head it is there it is what should have happened like i feel like it would add a lot to the general air of tragic love stories and repeated moments (generational curses?) that batman comics tend to have... also the idea of emulating your parents who you idolize (and to who tragic things happen to! -- like bruce looking up SO much to leslie and thomas traditionally, and in the ultimate evil how much he looks up to martha so much. and again how in some of the earlier versions martha dies trying to protect her husband. and how so many of babs's batgirl introduction stories start from her trying to protect her family, like most memorably her father in btas and her brother in the new 52 batgirl series... or even dick's mother having been a robin hood figure in rebirth and just how big of an influence john and mary were on him in general)
also i feel like that also that would set up so well for many of dick’s “i’d die for you”s whether it’s for bruce or barbara or whoever else like damian or tim or whatever (just bruce and babs very specifically!! because those are his longest lasting and most important partnerships like their relationship span over a course of just OVER fifty years (for babs) and EIGHTY-FIVE years (for bruce) like the fact that this is so longlasting is so beautiful like wow 🥹🥹 love and friendship is so eternal...) but anyway in my head this fits because not only is this devotion so INCREDIBLY reciprocated (think babs’s reaction to her hallucination of dick getting shot in fear state, bruce’s “that boy meant more to me than anything in life from the brave and the bold #83 and just how usually his reaction in any story to dicks death is to become passively (or sometimes even actively) suicidal) like that bond is just is so like like intense and beautiful like i can't coherently explain it someone help me i'll probably delete this post tomorrow but 😿😿 ughhhh something so beautiful about the amount of love they have for each other which is like undoubtable first of all but again the sentiment is again so compelling like: "i will love you till the day i die" and "i will risk my life with you every day. i will die WITH you. i will die FOR you." etc etc like something so beautiful about everlasting partnership and understanding but like whatever i don't even CARE 😿😿😿😿

brudick acting divorced once again in nightwing #130… bruce clearly using damian as an excuse for dick to come back to gotham like a desperate ex… bruce’s hand on dick’s shoulder… god bless you dan watters

New strawman, old tricks.
Bruce just can’t admit he misses his wife protege so he keeps using other people lol
one thing i love more than anything else in the world is when (gay) couples cosplay/dress up for halloween as batman and robin. every time i see antis seething about it it brings me even more joy. literally no matter how much the batfam agenda is pushed in the comics everyone i know irl who knows batman from pop culture and movies thinks robin is batman’s twink boytoy and i think that is so beautiful
I see you, DC
Look me in the eye and tell me that wasn’t on purpose. Yes, the Midnighter is somewhat similar in appearance to Batman, but if you see him fully, there is no confusing the two.
So it was absolutely a Choice to show him in a zoom and from an angle that makes him look like Batman just as he is admiring Dick Grayson’s ass.

Bruce punching Dick for trying to stop him from breaking his own moral code. 😭
And Dick not even bothering to wipe away the blood

for your “Dick Grayson, battered wife” collection. He even lies to his friends when they ask about his face

…Barbara Gordon bringing up Bruce Wayne when talking about Dick Grayson’s love interests.
[ID: photograph of a comic book, zooming in on two panels of Barbara Gordon and Dick Grayson, as Nightwing sans the mask, talking about who was Dick’s first crush.
Barbara: Oh, god. Please don't say Huntress. Dick: Why is everyone so down on Huntress? I admit now that getting involved with her may have been a mistake, but not because she's a bad person. Babs: Oh, no, not at all. But perhaps a tad intense? Dick: Compared to what? Babs: Um, hello? Anyone with the arguable exception of Bruce?]
”The only thing more certain than Master Bruce’s tendency towards autocracy is Master Dick’s tendency towards one-man mutiny.”
Look at Dick being the little rebel to Bruce’s strict patriarch.
[ID: several panels from “Batman: Gotham Knights”, showing Alfred Pennyworth, Tim Drake as Robin and Dick Grayson as Nightwing in front of Batman’s laboratory.
Alfred: Terribly sorry, Master Dick, but Master Bruce has asked not to be disturbed. He returned from once again visiting the crime scene, and has been in the laboratory ever since, with no evidence of a mood change. Speaking of which, if you will both please excuse me, I must get back to supervising the construction crew. I'm sure they can manage to break one or two more zoning laws by dawn in the name of master bruce's quest to precisely recreate his parents' home.
Dick: I’m going in.
Alfred:sigh Nothing changes. The only thing more certain than master bruces tendency towards autocracy is master dick's tendency towards one-man mutiny.
Tim smirks in the. background]
Literally the "Dick is smart and capable and I will give him a better chance than I ever got" to "I love him so much I have to put trackers on everything he owns because the thought of losing him paralyzes me with fear and makes me incredibly unreasonable" pipeline with Bruce is so beautiful you guys
