Fly here, go there, blow this up: it all starts to get very boring and trite when you have to do it every thirty seconds. There are drones and jack-booted militiamen from the other city in excess, and it’s getting to be a real pain in the rear to knock them out with non-lethal force as opposed to just blast ‘em up. The former suggestion is, of course, thanks to a certain girl in red and white who is no longer here. Of course.
Well, Marisa’s looking at it this way: she’s doing a lot of recycling. Her experiments aren’t waste-free, after all. Shining vials are tossed and, after a short delay, explode in a smog-smothered light amidst the crowds.
<<Y’figure they’d be givin’ up against me by now – whoa, watch it!>> A bullet of the lead variety has just skimmed her ear, a narrow miss. <<Jeez, you guys have no sense of tact; didn’t they teach you not to bring guns to a magic fight?>>
It’s then she notices a familiar sight flying up on her, green hair wild with flight. There’s no time for a reunion, just the important stuff.
<<Hey, if you’re not the real Sanae, I’ll just have to vaporize you, got it? So ya better be able t’ answer my questions.>>
Incidents happen in Hive City as well, it seems. Sanae would be lying if she said she wasn’t at least a tiny bit excited about this, even though this emotion was currently buried underneath large amounts of worry and concern. The enemies seemed a lot more scary than anything she found in Gensokyo. Mostly because people in Gensokyo weren’t out to explicitly kill you. But she digressed.
It seemed she was a bit late to the party, everything was already in full swing. The upside down city in the sky, portals littering the districts, milita men and robots everywhere... and someone very familiar flying on a broomstick just up ahead. “Marisa!?” Sanae figured if Reimu was here and her intuition was right, then that had to be her... She sped up to the witch to confirm her hunch.
“Thank goodness you’re here! Not that I should be surprised, but- EEP!” A stray bullet just managed to sneak past her left shoulder. She instinctively swerved to the right and came face-to-bristles with the back of Marisa’s broom, knocking both of them off course. Another short yelp, followed by the spitting of tiny branches out of her mouth, and she sped up to fly in tandem with the magician.
“Um, what do you mean, ‘the real Sanae’?”
