Well.... last night was it. The last Eastside practice. We celebrated with some bubbly, told stories, toasted to the future and shared some tears. It has been great, unique and life changing. #eastside #edg #eastsidederby

With heavy hearts and lots of tears, we are announcing the closing of Eastside Derby Girls. Our last practice will be Wednesday, June 28th.

Did you know each roller derby league is its very own little business? Each time a game (or bout) happens that's because 1 team member reaches out to another team. There isn't a governing body that sets games up. There isn't a meeting where dates are worked out. Each league runs their own season too. Some leagues take a month or 2 off for summer, some take time off for the holidays and some don't take any time off at all. This means the leagues skaters become "employees" for lack of a better term. They are encouraged to take a piece if the responsibility of running that business that is roller derby. The dream of roller derby includes work on and off the rink. To make it work, each league member must work too for the business.

It’s Wednesday and we are now over the hill meaning we are heading straight for the inevitable… a roller derby bout!

This Saturday, Ann Arbor Roller Derby will be holding our second home bout of the season. You won’t want to miss out.
