[I always find his speeches on stage really powerful, but this one in particular was so meaningful to me, and I’m sure to so many other people out there who may be ‘feeling life’s lows.’ Here’s the video, and the speech is transcribed below.]

“For those now who are currently in life’s good phases, everything’s just peachy
you might not give a fuck about what I’m about to say…
But anyway, there are those who might feel life’s lows right now. I want you to remember that in order to achieve the highs you need to go down to the lows.
You know that, all of us know that, we’ve all been through highs and lows and it sucks. I want to have fun all the time- not even I have fun all the time.
But I try to remember when life feels like a skidmark that those butterflies that I felt throughout my life they might not be there right now, sometimes it might feel like wasps. Like a beehive. That is not a pleasant feeling.
But you know, you have to imagine, as if hose butterflies are just dormant. Or maybe they’re in a very infant state, little larvae, crawling around in your intestines. I know it doesn’t sound very nice but imagine this:
Those little larvae, they grow into caterpillars, and eventually before you know it
they are butterflies again.They can come back.
Kind of like if you hurt yourself with a knife- you get a big cut, a big slash on your hand. The slash may be so deep that it may show bone and it might require
stitches. And stitches hurt, and a cut up hand hurts, and it feels like you can never use your hand again because it’s so vibrating with pain.
As the days go by that numbing pain turns into more of an itch. You still can’t use your hand- it’s very annoying, it feels like it’s never going to heal and you can’t do shit.
As time goes by, all the sudden you find yourself accidentally using your hand.
Oh? And you know? You didn’t even notice it. One day you just didn’t feel the same anymore. There might be a big scar and that scar may sit there for the rest of your life.
It might be there, but it doesn’t hurt.
Because things change, always.
Just a big endless circulation, you understand?
