you can always change. you realize that, right? if you feel stuck and stagnant, and you aren’t proud of who you are, you can change that. the world is not that serious and things are constantly growing and changing. i mean, think about it: the trees change every season; 4 times a year. you can do that, too. 

at any point, you can change and grow into someone you are proud of.

there’s something so gutwrenching about the fact that the female characters in obsession have real dreams and wishes but never get the chance to see them realized, while both male characters waste their wishes on short-term selfish satisfaction. they were complex, free-spirited young women who just wanted to create art, and they were destroyed by a man determined to confine them to his superficial perception of them. nikki wanted to be a writer, sarah wanted to be a tattoo artist and now neither of them will get to be anything at all

Corlys was entirely in his right to be pissed off at Rheanyra and call her out on her bullshit. He and his family have given fucking everything to her. His wife, who he was deeply in love with, died for Rheanyra. Corlys' brother was killed for being rightfully pissed off that his great nephews were not actually his great nephews. Did Corlys say anything when Daemon sliced into his brother like butter? No. What the fuck else does the man have to do?

Also, Corlys has always had a big "the world owes me" chip on his shoulder. He's pretty famous for his pride. Rheanyra was an idiot to deny him in front of witnesses.

This here is a big reason why I've never really liked Rheanyra and am not on #teamblack. When Rheanyra gets confronted with the consequences of her own actions, she plays victim. It's like no, ho. You made your choices, fucking live with them!

the worst part of summer is that people get sooo comfortable expressing their disgust at having to see other people’s bodies. they’re always complaining about wrinkly old men at the nude hot springs or fat women in bikinis at the beach. I hate that shit. if you’re not capable of being normal about bodies you personally don’t find attractive, just turn your head to look at something else! and if you’re not smart enough to do that, then at least do the rest of us the courtesy of suffering in silence, because we don’t wanna hear your weird comments. thanks.
