I see the fandom is very devided about the lost boys reboot actually I think more people are against it. But I have read it over and I like the two chosen actors and director I don’t think it sounds too bad. I’m trying to keep an open mind about it, there are many many many ways in which it could absolutely horribly wrong, but even if it does go wrong so what just another piece of “trash” lost boy media like the sequels and comics of course nothing will ever top the OG tlb movie ❤️ but my spirits are high that this’ll be a good one! (If it’s actually made hehe)

Like so far they've casted Noah Jupe and Jaedan Martell apparently and those are two young actors with some MAJOR acting chops (the son from A Quiet Place, Bill from IT) and the director is Jonathan Entwistle (I Am Not Okay With This, The End of the F***king World) so like,,,,,,,,I'm not entirely mad??? Like that actually seems like a pretty good set-up so far, and it almost seems like they're actually trying to take this remake a little more seriously than it's earlier ideas (i.e. the CW remake) but it's still way too early to call it imo. I wanna see who else they cast

Why I Am (Not) Excited About The Lost Boys Reboot

Hello! This is my opinion on why I am not excited. This isn't supposed to be hate for the new actors of the movie, but mostly by opinion on the reboot idea itself and not the actors.

I really don't see why we need a reboot. The Lost Boys was already a legendary film that changed cinematic culture and the way they portrayed vampires on tv (it made them to be beautiful, hot, mysterious creatures. Not ugly, v hairline mfers like Dracula.) The Lost Boys' depiction of hot vampires paved the way for future vampire films and series.

It was a big representation at the time of queer people. We, as The Lost Boys fans, cannot deny that the original is fruity asf. The name Michael is the most said word of the film and is mostly whispered by the boys like David. The director was even an openly gay man named Joel Schumacher. I even heard that the outfits of the boys were based on what gay men wore at gay bars. Leather, chains, crop tops, etc. The movie definitely has a lot of gay undertones that I feel like the reboot will ignore and basically make the new reboot some straight little movie that's going to become some movie about hot biker vampire dudes while leaving out the queer undertones and significance of the movie.

They also made the movie as an F U to the nuclear family debate of the time. There was a group of boys raised by an older man (Max) and a divorced mother with her two kids. Max tries swooping in to mend their families to make the nuclear "American dream" family, which ends up never happening.

It's not the 80s anymore. A lot of the new casts fans are already shitting on the old one, making a big deal on how they've never heard of the original 'The Lost Boys' when a lot of the fans are people in their teens (like me) who aren't interested in the 80s therefore have never bothered to watch or research on 80s things like the movies and music and fashion of the time. The Lost Boys was a movie about 80s vampires who dressed like glam metal/rock musicians because that was the rage of the 80s. Kiefer Sutherland (David) based his character on Billy Idol and Ric Flair.

The main reason I'm against the idea of a reboot is that I feel like the new reboot will erase the meaning behind it with the nuclear family and queer stuff and make the new reboot this pretty little movie about hot guys for straight girls to fawn over then shit on the old movie for being "weird" or "gay" or some shit. This is not the new reboot actor's faults, as they simply auditioned and got cast. I am just not looking forward to a new reboot since I feel it is unnecessary.
