I’m still very new to art and these commissions are mostly for practice and experience. My work isn’t great by any means (especially colouring) but I’m actively learning and appreciate any requests I get :)

Bearing in mind that as you grow older your cells reproduce less because the chance of you getting cancer increases significantly so rate of mitosis across your whole body decreases to mitigate that.

Assuming elves have similar enough biology to humans that this principal applies, would it be fair to say that elves ‘dying of old age’ really is just their mitotic index slowing so much that any cut or illness is extremely taxing for their body to heal that infection would kill them before their body is able to heal past a critical stage?

Alternatively, elves knowingly physically age much slower than humans do (eg looking 20 but being 200) so when they are especially young (maybe anywhere up to around 150 y/o assuming the average elf dies one way or another around 750-800 ish) their mitotic rate (and honestly metabolism in general) would be through the roof making is essentially regeneration.

Now idk if I’ve explained what I mean clearly enough (I need the option to do a voice message) so here’s what I’m thinking with an example:

Assume an 8000 (Ik realistically they ain’t living that long but bear with me) year old elf (or humanoid ish creature) has the same mitotic/metabolic rate as a healthy 80 year old human- 7000 and 70 and scaling down.

Meaning a 1000 y/o heals at the same rate a 10 y/o heals and a 100 y/o has the same rate of a 1 year old

Now going below 100 year old is just scaling down to newborn but what I’m trying to get at (and failing) is what if for the first very early years of an elf’s life they’re considered at their prime because that is when they can heal fastest?

The thing about Campaign 4 is that if everyone was 15% more messy and a decade younger, it would be nuclear fallout levels of dramatic. All because Thjazi Fang was the messiest bitch known to man. Thjazi married a noblewoman, rebelled against her family, got defeated by his wife’s sworn protector, and now his wife and the sworn protector (who, lest we forget, hates him so much he spit on his corpse) are traveling with his brother’s ex wife (who’s son is training with the sworn protector), and the ancient elf who he stole an ancient spiritual relic from, and he stole that relic with the best friend his wife gave to him as a gift. This isn’t even touching on the Tacchonis of it all. Like hello??? In any other world drinks would be being thrown in faces every single night.
