And who says that mermaids only come out on Mondays? Do not let your dreams wash away. Turn them into goals and work for them. Everyone is set on this earth for a purpose. Find yours whether it be to create art, inspire, or enhance the world. . . . . . . #mermaid #blackgirlswhoblog #disney #inspiration #tuesdaymotivation https://www.instagram.com/p/BoJkKB6FHG2/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=tje1z0qxvbd0

TheĀ āBattleā Between Black Panther and A Wrinkle In Time
If you haven't seen the wonder that is Black Panther yet, then you have at least heard about it. People came out in droves to support the most recent Marvel flick directed by Ryan Coogler and headlined by a mostly all black cast. People dressed up in African inspired clothing, they memorized all the words to Kendrick Lamar's soundtrack, and bought multiple tickets all for King T'Challa.Ā Now, Ava DuVernay's A Wrinkle In Time has recently premiered and I can already see the battle boiling. Some people are wondering why there isn't as much hype for A Wrinkle In Time as there was for Black Panther. Some are even insinuating that this is proof that the black community will overwhelmingly support a black man over a black woman, disregarding the fact that superhero movies (especially Marvel) always bring in a big draw. Even if you are not a comic book reader, like I am, movie goers have been following the Marvel universe for a decade and have usually come out to see each one in the theaters. We were also introduced to Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War and he stole every scene he was in, only adding to the excitement for his solo film. And of course, their advertisements were everywhere as most superhero movies are. Compared to the one trailer I've seen of A Wrinkle In Time, there were at least three for Black Panther (and I'm not including seeingĀ Chadwick Boseman and Danai Gurira in the Avengers: Infinity War trailer), countless interviews, that amazing soundtrack. Black Panther would not let you forget for one second that it was coming out.A Wrinkle In Time is not going to make the same amount of money or get the same amount of hype as Black Panther, but that should not lead to a war within the black community, especially turning into the battle of the sexes. Just because a black person went to go see Black Panther and not A Wrinkle In Time, does not mean they are sexist, that they follow the crowd, or that they are a coon. They are simply spending their money on what they want. We shouldn't be in each other's pockets, shaming them for what they decide to buy and not buy. Support A Wrinkle In Time if you want or don't, but no one should be shamed for what they do in their spare time.
Found this in my computer this morning, right after I was getting discouraged by my 25th rejection letter. I guess this a sign to keep pushing. #selfpublishing #inspiration #writersofinstagram
