You wanna talk proven facts? This shit’s been done, son: researcher Dale Spencer in Australia used audio and video tape to independently evaluate who talked the most in mixed-gender university classroom discussions. Regardless of the gender ratio of the students, whether the instructor was deliberately trying to encourage female participation or not, men always talked more—whether the metric was minutes of talking or number of words spoken.
Moreover, men literally have no clue how much they talk. When Spencer asked students to evaluate their perception of who talked more in a given discussion, women were pretty accurate; but men perceived the discussion as being “equal” when women talked only 15% of the time, and the discussion as being dominated by women if they talked only 30% of the time.
Spencer’s conclusion, if I may parahprase: you only think we talk too much because you’d rather we were silent.

Between 8 of us we managed to pack a massive 2,266 vital spit-kits to be sent out to potential life savers who have applied to join the bone marrow/stem cell donor register online.
Each kit contains easy to follow instructions, one spit pot and two teabags - so that you can invite someone over for a cup of tea and tell them about the register. Very British!

An open letter to Dan and Phil
Dan and Phil,
I am severely disappointed in you, and that is not a sentence I have to say often. You’re newest tumblr tag video, while funny and hilarious, contains one major component which upsets me so much I feel compelled to write this.
I understand that you become uncomfortable with certain aspects of your personal and private lives being re-imagined on the internet, and that seeing the phanart by dandongs made you slightly uncomfortable. However I think you handled the situation so inappropriately.
You edited that footage for hours, and in that time you didn’t think to look up where the picture came from to see if it was reposted (it was) and if the artist wanted you to see it (she didn’t)? Especially since you knew the inclusion of it would be controversial? I’m sorry it made you uncomfortable, I really am, but she never intended for you to see it, she was not putting it in your tags or trying to force her art onto yourselves or anyone else.
If you had a serious problem with it, you should have sent her a private message stating your concerns. Instead, you made fun of her art and said publicly that it weirded you out, essentially ostracizing her in our community. She has since deleted her tumblr entirely. And I have to say, I’m genuinely disappointed to see her go. She was an amazing artist, regardless of her content, and she gave me so much inspiration. Did you know she is asexual? That’s a big deal for me, because I identify that way as well. Do you know how inspirational it was to see a girl that was kind and willing to answer asks and talk openly about her sexuality, to encourage others to be themselves regardless of what society tells them? To see that an asexual can make amazing art that appreciates the human body and sexual nature of humans without being told they are “lying” about their sexuality?
You encourage and support other forms of creativity, and there are massive hoards of phanfiction written about you involving much more explicit sexual activity than her art, but you don’t call them out and ostracize them from the community. You both should have known better, and you should have considered that before you included it, and I personally think you owe her an apology.
She was an amazing person, had an amazing blog, and created impressive art, and I wish you were both confident enough to tell her so instead of making her feel like she doesn’t belong here.
I'm sorry but, no. They are humans and can express if something weird's them out. Their entire career is made up from showing their lives to the internet, we don't have control over what they show and don't show, it's completely up to them!! Maybe question a community that is so quick to exclude someone based on the opinion of 2 other humans, rather than those 2 humans for having opinions in the first place. Of course a drawing of you giving your best friend a blow job is going to make you feel uncomfortable! "She never meant for you to see it" sorry, but that's how the internet works, once it's up there it's for everyone to see, not just the people you want to see it. If it bothers you, password protect your blog.
