I was at a college. In the art school. I was very short and a big burly man picked me up and kissed me in the nose. We were in a play, laying in a bed and he died in my arms. I jerked awake and found myself outside my body, looking down. IlMy body was laying in the same bed but I was burnt to a crisp. Skeleton mouth gaping. Someone was holding my blackened hand with their head down on the bed crying.
I took prazosin before bed. Guess it doesn't always work
April 23 nightmare
I had only been asleep an hour. I remember very little. I may have been in my childhood home. I was holding a rabbit. I put the rabbit in its cage and left. I realized I had forgotten to feed the rabbit and became upset. Then I remembered that I only had a dog and cat now and was very relieved. A baby was crying, hurt. I lay down and looked behind feeing movement on the pillow. A hand and arm were crawling toward me. It was fast, scuttling on fingertips like a spider. I screamed, and it began choking me, digging its thumb into the front of my throat.
I woke up strangling myself
Prescription sleeping pills are no match for my mania. Bwaa haa haa ha!
JK. This shit sucks
Sept 27 nightmare
I had a birdcage full of colorful birds. I noticed that a few of them weren't looking too good. Their feathers were dull, some even missing in patches. It was a pretty sad sight. One or two of the birds were picking on the sickly ones.
I went upstairs to get another birdcage to make a sick bay for them. I aimed to nurse them back to health. I was struggling to find a matching top and bottom of a birdcage. I had several.
I finally found a colorful cage shaped like a small guitar. I brought it down and stuck my hand into the cage of birds to pick out the sick and weak.
I noticed one bird was viciously pecking his prone neighbor.
Just as my fingers were about to touch them I saw that the aggressor's beak was piercing into the skin. I knelt down to get a better look. My face now inches away frome the cage.
I tried to shoo the bigger bird away but was afraid it would bite my fingers. It's beak went way deeper into the smaller bird and I realized... or saw, rather, the small maggots or worms in the little bird's wounds
It was the worms the bigger bird was after. But the little bird was still moving.
I didn't know what to do. I figured the Humane thing to do would be to kill the little bird.
But I was too afraid of the worms.

Disassociation
You don't have to have DID to disassociate. In fact, most people that disassociate don't have DID
It had always been described to me as being similar to an out of body experience. Like seeing yourself from an outside perspective.
However, I learned that disassociation is different for everyone.
I was describing being lost in thought after a triggering incident (to my counselor). My husband would be talking to me or commenting on a TV program. I didn't hear him; had no idea what we were watching or for how long. I was lost in my head. Watching memories like a movie overlapping reality. Somehow hours had gone by. He said I was just staring off into space.
When my counselor told me I was disassociating, I was surprised. I mean... I do that shit all the time.
I guess my point is... If you're spending so much time in your head that reality becomes fuzzy background noise... If you find yourself on Friday wondering where Wednesday went... Might be a good idea to mention it to a parent, teacher, doctor or therapist.

A large dog chased a beagle across a field.
I saw the beagle run towards it's companion, laying on the ground. The weeds were tall. It was hard to see.
But I heard whining and saw movement. I could see the first beagle. I could see the larger dog closing in. And I could just barely make out. A row of ribs, picked of flesh, rising and falling with breath. From the fallen beagle. Almost blocked out by the tall grass.
Before the big dog bore down on it. The unharmed beagle grabbed it's companion by the ribs, trying to drag it away. The not quite dog, not yet carcass.
Dragging it not to safety. But because it didn't want to share.
I write this blog for various reasons.
None of which are because I am a good writer or storyteller.
It's a mental health indicator for me. I tend to have night terrors most often before or during an episode. Since I date them I can look for patterns and triggers.
It can point out things connected to, or symbolic of, past trauma. I often dream about animals in general, but mostly dogs, Dead. Maimed. Infested. Suffering. Blood. Gore. Rot. Which makes sense, having grown up on a farm.
It gives my brain a chance to wake up all the way and bide time. So I won't go right back into a nightmare. Which I standby wholeheartedly as an effective coping strategy.
Blogging helps me break down the dream into manageable parts. I inspect the dream and it becomes less scary.
I can eat 2am Popsicles. My counselor told me that getting up and eating something sweet, helps you recover. I may have possibly dreamed she said that, but I believe in it's legitimacy. Not at all as an excuse to gorge on sugar. Not at all. No, really. It's your imagination.
Most importantly, it gives me something to DO. It helps me feel some semblance of CONTROL in a powerless situation.
April 1st
I couldn't have been asleep for more than an hour. This is what happened.
I was staying the night with a childhood friend. The bed was so small we were basically spooning.
I awoke from a nightmare (in my dream) and was just drifting off again when I felt her reach over and started pumping the arms of a nearby elliptical.
I opened one eye and placed my hand on the machine to stop the momentum. I explained that it was about to get caught in the hanging plants and rip them down.
Right behind my ear, with arm draped over me, a deep gravelly voice said "noooooo."
Who or what am I spooning with? And where is my friend?
