I came across David Wiesner’s 1991 children’s wordless picture book ‘Tuesday’. It intrigued me as my chosen book for AT2 ‘The Red Piano’ has wordless spreads. Very different books though! Flying frogs v. communist China. ‘Tuesday’ is now animated on YouTube and though it is also delightful, nothing can beat being able to ponder longer and deciding when to turn the page. Check it out!Â

Prompt 2
I’ve made this poster from website https://www.australiancurriculumlessons.com.au/2015/07/25/the-good-hamburger-a-writing-lesson-on-creating-paragraphs/
When I was in a Year 4 placement, the students were focusing on the structure of each paragraph for their fictional writing. Using the Hamburger metaphor and a picture of the hamburger helps to engage the less engaged students.Â

Prompt One
I only recall being read to in Grade 2. The first book E.B. White’s Charlotte’s Web was so engaging I remember sitting on the mat with tears streaming down my face as I was so invested in the characters. The second book was Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach. I enjoyed it so much I would retell what had been read to me at school to mum each day, in great detail. To this day it is a family joke that should I be telling a long winded story my sisters will interrupt saying ‘James and the giant peach’ and I will know to wrap up my story!
