I don’t usually post cause I don’t like talking about myself but I just read an article that really ticked me off. I keep getting stories about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. I’m American with Irish ancestry so I generally don’t care about the English so unless they do something drastic it really has nothing to do with me. I get the pop ups about his leaked book [Spare] and I read the article that says how King Charles told Harry how his mother died and Harry whining about how “my father didn’t hug me.” This is how my father told me my grandma died. First of all my parents have been divorced since I was 2. My dad called to say he was coming and that he had a “surprise” for me. He picked me up at my home, drove to a spot where he use to go ‘parking’ with my mom (told me that with WAY too much detail), talked about himself for an hour, and finally told me grandma was dead. I (obviously) started crying and he asked me if I wanted to go home to which I said yes. No physical contact whatsoever. He then took me to grandma & grandpas house (his home) where my uncle and cousins (who had know for a while that she was dead) were putting sticky notes on stuff they wanted for themselves. I had stopped crying and my uncle came up to me and handed me my own sticky notes to put on stuff I wanted (he didn’t know dad had just told me the news and thought I was prepared).
There’s no ‘good’ way to tell someone a loved ones dead, but there are definitely ‘worse’ ways. I’m throughly disgusted with Harry for thinking he’s got such pain just because he didn’t get ‘hugged’ when given sad news. There are tons of people with their own pain and loss and major family problems. There are so many real world problems and natural disasters. So this is my long rant when I really just wanted to say #shutupharry . I’m sorry Princess Diana is dead but it’s been over 20 years and lots of people have died since then. If you sincerely wanted to make up with your family you would talk to them directly and not drag the whole world into your family problems and daddy issues. All this media coverage just seems like an overgrown toddlers temper tantrum.
Made a cookie tower for my Grandpas 84th birthday. He loved it. Bought a styrofoam tower from @MichaelsStores and the cookies from @Vons and @worldmarket. Made the rice crispy treats myself.
