Yup.  I have to make so much effort at work to talk to people and it is exhausting.  The more people, the more exhausting.  I’m currently in a hotel knowing I have to interact with a roomful of about 30 people tomorrow and I’m gonna want to sleep for a week afterwards

Oh god, I hate talking to people. You never realise just how much elderly people talk until you have to try and feed 35 of them in a hospital ward…you ask what they want for dinner and you get their life story.

YES. And while I have accepted that I’m forced to deal with people whenever I leave the house, it leaves me so drained. Like, not in a negative way, necessarily, it’s fine, but I need time to recharge afterward, or I’ll be insufferable and miserable. 

Working with so many people on a daily basis when you’re an introvert and NOT A TEAM PLAYER sucks, because while I WANT to go back to yoga class, and meet friends, and just generally have a social life outside of work, I am so DONE with people when I leave the office that I cannot handle any more group settings (like classes, clubs) or spontaneous fun activities… or people in any shape or form, doing stuff loudly and obnoxiously and pestering me to interact and pay attention to them. I JUST CAN’T. And it’s not even personal.

All my family complain at weddings because I have to be in bed by ten. I managed eleven at my own, woo hoo! It’s just so draining :(

Add “hard of hearing” to introvert and you have me. It’s doubly exhausting to talk to people these days because not only does being social sap my energy, but trying to figure out what people are saying is a fucking NIGHTMARE.

Also, story time: I had the same class for two years straight with this one guy. Two full years, before he randomly turned around and was ‘hey, can you talk?’ It… It was a CHORUS class? That I had to sing in? Right behind him for TWO YEARS? But apparently only three people in that class including the instructor ever heard me say anything. This guy seriously thought I was mute.
