Sometimes
It gets particularly difficult sometimes, but there are the good days as well. I guess I am just trying really hard to forgive myself now, because how did I let myself get into this position?
It’s really no one’s fault but mine, really. For slowing giving up pieces of myself along the way, somewhat conscious of it but not really. Thinking that it was okay, it’s temporary, it will work. But they don’t usually, do they? At the end, I’m the one cleaning up the mess alone.
Tell me this 5 or 6 years ago, I would have called you crazy, I would never put myself through it. But hey, I realise it now. It’s difficult, but I’m finding my way forward.
Not backwards, but forward.
Time will heal all, I just need to have blind faith in that.
Tomorrow would bring its own trial with it; so would the next day, and so would the next; each its own trial, and yet the very same that was now so unutterably grievous to be borne.

THEN WE SAW A BIRTH. And here is a maiden hembra being really funny. She didn't know that she had a newborn coming out of her!!! She kept turning in circles trying to sniff the strange creature and even started spitting on her! Really lucky I managed to capture this exact moment. Her maternal instincts kicked in almost immediately after the cria was born and she hasn't left her baby's side ever since. LOVE BEING A VET STUDENT.
Yesterday we had the chance to witness a mating and it was such a refreshing experience! Although I did feel a little awkward for Magnesium (the boy) bc 5 people were just standing around looking at him do his thing. The girl didn't seem quite bothered by it though! I don't think I will ever forget the sounds the macho makes while mating! Loving our current placement :))
Little Moo
When I’m feeling uninspired to start studying for exams, I go round hunting for blogs by vet students to make me feel better bc now I know we feel the same way about vet school.
It was the last day of our undergrad degree yesterday. Bring on the Masters degree and bring on the stress in Y2. We're not ready and we're shit-scared but I think we will all be just fine.
look, it’s HYPOTHETICAL
SO APPARENTLY it turns out that grading friends’ bodies/muscles based upon the USDA Beef Grading scale is “weird” and “disconcerting” and “not right”
on a more interesting note it’s the friend who scored highest that took the most umbrage. look, eating you first is a COMPLIMENT. you have ideal mass and body fat ratio and probably have some Select Grade marbling given your active-but-well-fed lifestyle!
jeeze. you’d think these people had never been complimented on their meats before.
I miss the countryside already.
Going home to this lovable goof face soon

Will try to revive this space and use it to document my 4yrs in vet school :)) Here's me in a bird handling prac learning how to restrain different bird species! This is a pigeon shown above and we handled budgies and finches as well. Btw, it DOES hurt when the smaller birds bite you (not peck).
