Brighton, where I live, is the spiritual home of Mod. And my wife Ingrid is performing in this...
Our daughter is a tap dancer and ever since she was tiny we've watched countless of old Hollywood musicals. Easter Parade is an annual favorite with Fred, Judy and the sensational Ann Miller tapping to 'Shakin' The Blues Away'. Happy Easter everyone!
The Zipper
The timing, pacing, designs and gags-per-minute are off the charts in this one. One of my most favorite cartoons ever...
Ayuda! Ayuda! New Youtube Music Channel
I'm putting a bunch of random music things I've done over the years up on youtube, including a new edited version of this track, which samples dialogue from the final Mucha Lucha! episode 'The Magnificent Three'.
Super Chicken
From around 1969 and part of the 'George Of The Jungle' half hour, Super Chicken was the middle cartoon between George and Tom Slick.
But it was Super Chicken we fifth-graders used to run home after school to watch. Witty, funny and totally irreverent with a great animation style. And don't forgot Super Chicken's sidemensch Fred, who knew the job was dangerous when he took it...
Q.T. Hush
As a kid growing up in England in the 1960s, we had two TV channels. And they didn't actually go on air until late in the afternoon. So when my family emigrated to Melbourne Australia and I discovered there were FOUR channels that ran ALL DAY LONG, I was a little beside myself in excitement. And because there were a lot of hours to fill, the content was broad and diverse. Every now and then some obscure little gem would pop up, run its course, then never be seen again. Which leads me to Q.T. Hush.
I loved this cartoon. While the storylines were Hanna-Barbera-esque, the background stylings and mood were miles away from Snooper and Blabber. I remember drawing Private Eyes and dreaming of creating my own TV series.
The downbeat, moody organ intro set the tone for the locale...
It was a very dark series in terms of color palette: I've grabbed these from youtube and brightened them considerably. All the more amazing when you realize these seedy New York locations were created in sunny California. I couldn't find any specific info on the BG artists, but a lot of the ink/paint department went on to work for Bakshi on Coonskin and Heavy Traffic, which are very similar to this in mood and seediness.
The UPA-esque designs and limited animation are fun and quirky. Interestingly the brilliant Virgil Ross who animated many a classic Looney Tune, was an animator on this.
Clockwise: Quincy, QT Hush, Shamus and an incidental. Quincy, the cigar chomping, no-face assistant was my favorite.
As the promo at the top of the post says, 100x3.5 min episodes were made. Wow - what a time to be an indie animator. A lot of these are currently on youtube.
(Personal) Update...
Unfortunately, 34 years of animating, designing and storyboarding has taken its toll on my hands to the point where I'm unable to grip anything with my left, and have a constant strain with my right,
So I'm having to take a break from the drawing tablet.
In the meantime, there's a whole host of Mucha Lucha! content and new, non-profit/no budget Mucha Lucha!-INSPIRED content on the slammin donuts youtube channel (Check out the 'ROOM 208' series).
Visit https://ko-fi.com/ecm494172 to support new Mucha Lucha!-inspired projects. Epic tales about luchadores and donuts. A tribute to ¡Much
Any reposts are particularly appreciated, as they are the only way to spread the word.
Thanks everyone for your support. I am hoping this is temporary and will be back soon. i have so much I still need to accomplish.

A great FIVE HOUR interview with the legendary all-round animation great Eddie Fitgerald. Prepare to be intrigued, inspired and entertained!
We came SO close to having him on Mucha Lucha! Still might be my biggest regret that it didn't happen...
(Thirteen Episodes). Killed in battle, a ninja named Ringo gets a second chance at life. Join Ringo on his quest through the land of yokai,
I started Noshi Cartoons on YouTube about 10 years ago to showcase my non-lucha work, then promptly forgot about it until today! I've JUST uploaded all 13 episodes of my ninja/yokai saga 'Dead Ringo'! I'm also hoping to start a new lucha/puroresu series on here soon...

The great Ralph Bakshi is posting some amazing art on Blue Sky Social (https://bsky.app/profile/ralphbakshi.bsky.social)
And yes, as we were huge Bakshi fans and inspired by his approach to animation, we named a Mucha Lucha! character after this film :)
