So, I figure I should put up how I asked Szarina's parents, AND grand parents if I had permission to be her boyfriend.
It was 12:15 pm, Sunday, March 18th, 2012. I arrived at the Cabling/Labtingao residence like I usually do on a Sunday but on this day, I had something I had to accomplish. I told myself, "TODAY....IS THE DAY!!!". The day that I would finally ask for permission to be OFFICIALLY in a relationship with Sza.
Tita Shelby (Szarina's mom), let me in and told me to wait for Szarina downstairs. I went downstairs, and noticed she wasn't quite ready to leave yet, so I thought, "NOW'S MY CHANCE!". I was about to go upstairs and confidently ask, only to find myself fearing the first step on the flight of stairs leading to the living room. I....was scared. I had a final shot of fear, when suddenly, my mind blanked, and all I remember saying over and over was, "Szarina, Szarina, Szarina...", so I went for it. I went upstairs, said hello once again to everyone, and they asked me to sit and watch Terminator with them. I figured, why ask right away when I can bask in the atmosphere of futuristic robots, and nervousness? So I sat there, until I heard Szarina moving around downstairs, and I knew it had to happen, FAST. I lifted my head, looked at Tita Shelby and said, "Tita, can I ask you something?". She replied, "Hmm?". I said, "I just wanted to ask if I could have permission to ask Sza to be my girlfriend.". My breaths stopped as I awaited the answer. Tita Shelby said, "Jie! He's asking permission to be Sza's boyfriend dao!". Tito Benjie paused, then answered "No problem! Sure! As long as you're ready!" Tita Shelby answered in the same manner. As soon as my heart began to beat again, Szarina walked upstairs looking for food.
Later that evening, we went to Sza's grandparent's house to do some cleaning, and i was asked to help fix the surround sound system. A few hours past, and I was able to fix it, and then Lolo asked me to sing Karaoke before I had to leave. We sang a few rounds, and then it was time to go. As Sza waited at the car for me while I went back to the house to pick up the last box, I pulled some courage out of no where and asked the same thing I asked to her parents. Lolo's answer made me smile HARD on the inside hehe. He said, "But I thought you're already....sure! You're a good guy!". He said it with a smile on his face! WOOOOOO!
What a wonderful day it was. Got permission TWICE, to ask Sza to be my girlfriend. Fixed a surround sound system, and got approval with a smile from a man who I was told was reeeeaaal tough!
