Idea of the week happens every Monday and we are given a title and have to respond in the most unexpected and innovative way possible.

I was given a location in london (St george’s Square in Pimlico) and had to represnt it through a piece of 3D type. My chosen phrase was ‘War Baby’, to celebrate the one red brick 1950’s block of flats in the middle of a whole sqaure of white Georgian town houses.I made a type out of bright metal and LED lights similair to the loud, big fairground lights.

For this we were given a red water colour pencil and had to create a short film about it.We wanted to draw on the danger of the colour red, linking to blood and pain so we linked it tot he horror film 'Physco'
A photography brief where we had to show the word 'topsy turvy'. So, with my partner we took head sots of a number of people getting them to raise their eyebrows so wrinkle appeared on their forehead. With these wrinkles we then took parts of them and made them into their lips. So these three images all have their forehead wrinkles for lips.

I showed a ‘moment of truth’ by capturing the moment your haircut is revealed in the barbers
How they searched for planes in WWII -
A searchlight (or spotlight) is an apparatus that combines an extremely luminous source (traditionally a carbon arc lamp) with a mirrored parabolic reflector to project a powerful beam of light of approximately parallel rays in a particular direction, usually constructed so that it can be swiveled about.
The idea of shining the shadow onto the building or
using a spotlight to find the type on the building?
My chosen line is
‘I WAS A GEORGIAN BEFORE WWII’
possibly ways to present it:
- Spotlight shadow inspired by the ww2 lights trying to find plans to shoot down
- knitting with the old peoples home
- look into materials that are cheaper copies
- something transparent so you can see what it use to look like
- damage replacement like plaster

Things I noticed on the streets when walking to galleries
Our staged YBA perfomance during sponge day. We decided to hold a meeting within the area of the City surrounded by offices and business men in suits. We sat around a large bench with acted as a table for our meeting. We spoke loud and tried to catch the attention of passersby. Our meeting was quite ironic as it was clearly pointless, as we were trying to poke fun at the people around us in offices. Our video is also clearly backed up by Paul Arden’s quote:
‘Meetings are for those with not enough to do. They are performances, acts to convince people of their own importance’ - Paul Arden
The man at the end of the video also gave us good advice to how we could actually pull off a proper meeting - so we may go back in the future and stage/film the performance properly. The man spoke to us for a while, therefore showing how we successfully managed to engage a member of the public with our YBA idea.
My critique of two of the galleries we visited
