The famous deserted village on Slievemore mountain at Achill Island. These are the remnants of ~100 cottages abandoned in the early 20th century, for reasons not entirely clear, but probably to do with a combination of lifestyle pattern change, echoes of the Famine, and so on. Settlements in this area go back at least to the 12th century. In the distance, the sea at Minaun mountain is visible.

Owned by the Guinness family, this lake is one of the highlights of Wicklow, though as it is in private ownership, it's artificial beach cannot be visited. Nonetheless, at sunset, it presents a marvellous view towards Luggala and the rest of the Wicklow mountains.
