zhen yu version clean

"Zhen Yu was born thanks to music."

This is no joke. Zhen Yu is a character who stands out because her main power is singing, which she uses to control and summon souls. This is a unique characteristic. However, her lore has been guided by songs inspired by films, but the most prominent is the Cirque du Soleil show "Dralion." During a creative block, I watched this show to distract myself, and its soundtrack and atmosphere opened my mind to other possibilities for her creation. The atmosphere in it is very spiritual, almost magical.

Spirit greatly contributed to the inspiration for her main plot, and the songs were one of the driving forces behind the story. However, the artist Marie Celestine was the inspiration for making Zhen Yu a character whose defining characteristic is her voice. And if you ask me, if Zhen Yu becomes canon, she would undoubtedly be the one to provide the voice for her songs.

Every element is part of her, from the lore and composition to the design and atmosphere. That's why Zhen Yu is one of my most cherished OCs, because she inspires me so much when I listen to music as magical as she is ✨

And if you have the chance to see Cirque du Soleil's Dralion, do it even if the quality isn't great. You'll know what I mean when I talk about its soundtrack.

I made this Baimei comic strip from MK11 when he runs away from his old life and finds Dark Raiden. Will things change for better or for worse? 🤫

Baimei's design in the Mortal Kombat 11 timeline shows her as a Lin Kuei, but here she escaped after Bi-Han transformed into Noob Saibot and they had a fierce fight. She fled because Noob was blinded by Quan Chi's spell at the time. Kuai Liang tried to find her since he knew Noob had seriously injured her (like Baimei in MK1), but she refused to give in and withdrew from everything, abandoning her Lin Kuei past to live in a village where she would interact with some surprise characters.

(Interesting fact: In this timeline, Baimei was Bi-Han's partner, but when he became Noob Saibot, he didn't recognize her as part of his past, leaving her with the lingering effects of an injury that she still carries.)
