And the first time that I ever broke that cycle was when I was making this album, reputation. And I decided that it would be really important for me to figure out who I would be as a person, what decisions I would make, if I didn’t have a spotlight on me. So I went away, and I got to do that, and it was really really important, and the coolest thing is that you a) understood that, and b) were right here when I got back. Because you know, when I’m onstage, and you guys aren’t even just singing the words to me, you’re screaming them back to me, it’s this insane sense of connection with you, and I think that the one thing that every single one of the 56,000 people in this stadium has in common is that we all crave that feeling of reaching out to someone else and having them reach back, or having someone say, ‘yeah, I feel exactly how you feel,’ or, 'yeah, I’ve been through that too,’ or, 'yeah I’m going through that right now.’ Like, that is such a validating feeling, and what you do by coming here tonight and singing words back to me that I wrote when I was feeling really alone is wonderful.
