Some things that I’ve learned in life thus far. A little long winded but worth the read, so bear with me.
1: enjoy life. Family time, friends, the walk in the park or the beach. Whatever it is that you enjoy, don’t become so busy that you forget to enjoy the little things that make you happy.
2: there are people you run into that are truly genuine people and the more you get to know them, the more you realize how awesome they are. Those are the people you surround yourself with. These are the types of friends that become more like family. We need more of them.
3: there are also people that never change their colors. They are just good at wearing that façade. This can be friends and/or family. They are your friend when they need you or need something from you, but you are disposable to them. If you pay attention, you’ll realize really fast who these people are. Their friend group is typically a revolving door. Avoid these types, they’re not good for your happiness. Get good at seeing through the BS.
4: just because you’re religious and you portray how religious you are to social media and the rest of the world doesn’t make you a good person. Even though it’s great to be proud of your beliefs, what truly makes you a good person is how you treat people, especially when others aren’t looking. Regardless of your religious beliefs, it doesn’t take much effort be a good person, but with that little effort you can positively impact someone’s day. This isn’t a knock at religion by any means, this is a knock towards toxic human traits.
5: be humble. If you’re not, life has a way of humbling you….and it will absolutely humble you.
6: it’s our job to leave this world better than what it was before we got here. It starts with the little things.
7: don’t become a person that you don’t like or wouldn’t want to be around. Don’t let your ego take over. More importantly, don’t let your kids become that person either (thank you for this one Dr Jordan B Peterson)
8: if you realize that one day you will in fact die, your goals and your legacy become significantly more important and it will help you stop procrastinating and work harder and smarter. Momento Mori.
9: the world doesn’t get conquered in a day. Productive daily habits, a strong will and determination can help you achieve massive goals, it just takes time. Don’t underestimate what you can accomplish in a year..or even 5 years.
10: pick up that phone. Call that friend or family member you haven’t spoken to in awhile. Call don’t text. You’d be surprised how good you feel after the call and more than likely it’ll make their day too. You don’t want to have the regret of “I wish I would’ve called them.”
11: fix what you have control of, let go of what you can’t and have the knowledge to know the difference. (serenity prayer) this is a strong one, because as humans we spend a lot of time worrying about things that are out of our control.
For what it’s worth, I hope these help you.
Happy Wednesday everyone. Much love to you all.
