Actually yes I can because I’ve used them.
1. Pick a Personal Style and stick to it like glue. The clothes, the hairstyles, the beauty regimen, all of it functions like armour and you can put it on every day.
2. Some form of sustained physical labour every day - not working out, doing something constructive. If there’s no snow to shovel, go outside and dig a new garden and spend at least an hour in it every day. If you live in an apartment, write down a specific cleaning regimen, with steps, and do it every day whether the space looks like it needs it or not.
3. Hyperplan your meals for the week. Cook at least one new recipe. Make sure there’s dessert, even if it’s just a scoop of ice cream.
4. Put on the loudest music you have and completely reorganize your living space. Pro tip: buy as many hooks as you can and get everything up off the floor. Colourful tote bags being used as storage totally count as installation art, especially if they go to the ceiling.
5. Make sure you’re not the only living thing in your home, even if it’s just a betta fish or a spider plant. It forces you to take care of yourself so that you can take care of the living thing that depends on you.
Will this work for everyone? Probably not. Is this a substitute for medical intervention? Nope. Did this help me get through 2013-2015 without a major breakdown? You bet. Just do your best.
