🌊Hiiii, welcome to my own lil deep sea trench of this hellsite. This blog is kinda all over the place lol but is primarily ocean themed, if nothing else it's me living out my dreams of being a siren by posting about my fav jellyfish species and doomed 19th century sailor yaoi on Tumblr dot com💜

Abt Yours Truly:

I'm Violet (not my irl name but it's what I've always gone by online), She/Her, 18, Bisexual, Very sleepy, Aspiring author / marine biologist (huge dichotomy ik lol), I write poetry and am working on a novel, and I love classic lit too. I like foxgloves and dreaming and sea glass and seashells and my heart is with the sea forever and always. Essentially, I'm going for a sort of melancholy soul of a drowned Victorian mariner's wife vibe

What to expect from this blog

Um, kinda everything, if it's marine themed it goes, and sometimes if it's not marine themed it also goes lol. Sometimes personal things and tag games and stuff too because I don't have enough brain cells to run an ocean account and a personal account at the same time. In particular tho I post a lot abt Moby Dick (both like, fandom Stuff and actual literary analysis) because I am soooooooo normal about these silly little whalers I am so normal about Captain Ahab and Starbuck I am so normal I'm so normal about them soso normal

Fandom Stuff / Media I like

(I don't usually post about most of this to keep things ocean themed but if U want to yap abt anything feel free to DM or leave an ask)

Literature) My fav book is tied between Moby Dick by Herman Melville and Our Wives Under The Sea by Julia Armfield (my fav author she's actually phenomenal pls go read her stuff if U haven't)! I also love Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë and my fav poets are Mary Oliver and Sylvia Plath

Music) I looooove Mitski don't get me started on her music I will never shut up. I also love Hozier, Ethel Cain, Boygenius (especially Lucy Dacus), The Marías, Laufey, that sorta vibe. Also sea shanties

TV) I'm gonna be completely honest guys I like, barely watch TV, I love His Dark Materials tho (used to be my fav books too). Also love The Terror but the fandom scares me I am not a big enough fan to be a terror blog I'm sorry I don't know who Tommy Armitage is lmao

Videogames) I don't really play many games anymore but I love Kirby, Pokémon, Fe3h, ACNH, Celeste, DDLC and Dredge

Also idk where else to put this but I adore the audio drama podcast The Silt Verses which I'll occasionally post abt cos I deem it fish related enough lol

My fav whaling logbook phenomenon is when their keeper opts NOT to use whale stamps and instead hand-draws very ornate whales to indicate when he sees them, but then as time goes on the whales get progressively shittier looking because that’s too much work. I know how it feels to get locked into an artistic bit later regretted, man.
