Pool
Last night I had a dream about a public swimming pool. In the dream, I was convinced I should go by a mass of friends-- that it was very fun and popular, and that if I went I would love it.
It was the size of a small lake. The water was brown and murky, and it was stagnant until someone pulled a switch and an engine roared. Then a system of tubes and machines formed what looked like a giant sinkhole in the middle with enormous suction power.
My companions in the dream (who don't have an identity in my waking life) looked delighted by the dangerously swirling currents and couldn't wait to jump in. "Why would I want to swim in that? It's a drowning hazard! It looks like it's purposefully built to drown people!"
"Look!" one of them excitedly gestured at me, toward a couple of large round rafts crowded with hostile people. My friends jumped up and down watching each group furiously attempt to tip over opposing rafts, actively trying to dump all of the other people into the murky water and into the circular void in the middle. I watched in horror as one raft was flipped by the audibly victorious people on another raft. Dozens of people sank, screaming. My companions and everyone around me cheered.
"I wouldn't even put my feet into this water!" I yelled to my companions, who couldn't hear me as they were assembling their own raft to get in.
