So many different thoughts and emotions had been running around Aaron’s brain in the days following hearing the news about Eevee’s accident. Everything about it reminded him Landon’s accident years ago. When his best friend forgot him. When he thought he was going to lose Landon forever. That was such a scary time, and now it almost felt like history repeating itself. On top of that Aaron felt a sense of guilt. At the end of the day, he knew he couldn’t have done anything to stop it. But Aaron was a protector, so it was only natural that he felt this way when something happened to one of his friends.
Aaron had slept in that day. His daughter was at her mom’s and he’d just been having a lazy morning with his boyfriend. He had plans to work from home, and take the morning to regroup. He’d been feeling really depressed since his relapse at his birthday party. The news about Eevee only exacerbated that. He felt like he was practically falling asleep at his desk when he finally got to work for the day before he saw Eevee’s name pop up on his phone. “Shit.” He mumbled to himself, immediately picking up the phone to answer. “Eevee! Hey. Oh my god.” He exclaimed, smiling to himself because he couldn’t believe that she was chosen to call him over all the people she could have. But feeling do happy that she did. “We can get coffee, yeah. Of course.” He nodded his head wildly even though he knew she couldn’t see him. I can meet you at The Grind in like 20? Or….we can go any time you want.” He breathed.

Eevee doesn't know when she's started gathering the courage to retrace a bit of her old life but if her father is to make sure that she moves on from it, she knows that those who get left behind would at least get a bit of closure from her end. She hopes she wasn't the type of person that would just leave out of nowhere or at the very least, she was the type that would care for her friends enough to prepare them for the worst, though she doubts that any of them would have predicted this were to happen. It's kind of sad, really, because if she's being honest with herself, she wants to keep some of the things old Eevee might have had, but her father says it isn't fair to her to carry on someone else's life when she can just make one of her own and there's some truth in that.
His voice doesn't ring any bells, doesn't even give the slightest bit of familiarity, and she doesn't realize she was actually hoping for it until the disappointment hits. "Oh yeah, coffee! I think I know where The Grind is. I'll just take an Uber there and twenty minutes should be fine. I'll see you there!" Eevee ends the call before he can say anything else; nervous as to what, she doesn't know, but her heart feels like it's about to beat right out of her chest. In a daze, she somehow makes it to the meeting place, near deathlike grip on the mug of coffee she's managed to get. Eevee takes a seat on a table near a window, letting her mind wander as her eyes dart from one stranger to the other in the sidewalk. She waits and if she's shaking, well, no on else needs to know.
