Hendery discovers something new about everyoneโs favorite gegeโฆ
I havenโt finished a comic in such a long time. I suppose for a long while, I was also in a really bad place, struggling to adjust to the many things that were changing around me, and also unable to come to terms with the fact that I hadnโt really accomplished what I set out to do when I first started drawing more. Countless doubts flooded my mind, and as time passed by without a drawing or even a rough sketch, picking up a pencil or stylus again felt more and more intimidating.
Iโm in a much better head space now, and Iโm incredibly thankful that I found the courage and drive to actually finish this comic. The effects of stopping for so long were very much felt. Muscle memory fades just as our other memories do, and it takes a lot of exercise for it all to come back to you.
There are still a number of things for me to sort out, and Iโve come to accept that in general, I will have less time and energy for my artwork. I suppose that also makes me cherish these pieces more.
So much has changed in the online spaces that Iโve inhabited in the past 5 years. Management, algorithms, online moots, friendships that come and goโฆ while I deeply treasure all the art Iโve made, and the experiences those 5 years gave me, currently it feels like Iโm back at square one all over again. Or well, not really, more like New Game plus (+). Yes, New Game (+). I think thatโs a nice way to put it, lol.
Anyway, amidst everything, Iโll remember that my art doesnโt mean anything less if there are also less people interacting with it. And even if no one does, what I made is still a piece of my mind, my soul, and my heart, brought to life and shared with the world through my own hands.
That will always be something beautiful, and meaningful to me.
