That post about death note being "everyone's first anime" (untrue statement) made me curious and now I want to gather data for science
Can you reblog this and tell me where are you from and what was your starter anime?
not now sweetie mommy’s blogging about something that 5 people care about
Albert Square, Manchester (1910) by Adolphe Valette | Contemporary Art (2015) by Emily Allchurch
the top is an original, from 1910, the bottom is a new version painted in 2015
THE BOTTOM IS A PAINTING????
also does a really good job reminding the view just how much air quality has improved since we stopped burning coal in every building lol
The bottom piece isn't actually a painting - it's a photographic collage [Albert Square, Manchester (after Vilette)]. Emily Allchurch, the artist, takes a whole bunch of photographs of a place and then combines them into a final collage to recreate or reference classic paintings.
I love how these two pieces relate to each other. I really like that all the features in the second piece really were there, maybe not sharing time, but sharing space - just like they are with the features of the first piece. The two together give a great composite impression of Albert Square as a place over 105 years.
Manchester Art Gallery has both in its collection but I don't think the Valette piece is currently on display. I wish they'd put them together - I have a possibly-false memory of seeing them next to each other and the conversation between them is so good!
Friends come and go. Relationships end. That edgy character you latched onto at age 12 is forever
staying up really late is comforting. the world stops expecting things from you. it’s just quiet for a while.
Contrary to popular belief the biggest beginner's roadblock to art isn't even technical skill it's frustration tolerance, especially in the age of social media. It hurts and the frustration is endless but you must build the frustration tolerance equivalent to a roach's capacity to survive a nuclear explosion. That's how you build on the technical skill. Throw that "won't even start because I'm afraid it won't be perfect" shit out the window. Just do it. Just start. Good luck.
if I don’t reply just assume it’s my curse acting up
'being single sucks because youll be lonely' lame and untrue. 'being single sucks because a lot of groceries are portioned to make food for more than one person and you cant really take advantage of buying in bulk because it'll go bad before you use it all' this i cannot deny.
i wish i was a raccoon sleepin on a log
"You could get up early and do it before work" I could also wait for a magic beanstalk to start growing in my living room LMAO. Let's focus on things that happen in the real world

AO3 should have an Annotation Mode where you can click to view all of the author's commentary and thoughts about certain parts of the work. A little comment that says "I spent five hours researching vintage radio mechanics for this and didn't even end up using it" or "this is an ancient Hebrew literary technique!" would make my day
