@ateezslut
closed starter for @rapdfires‘s akina !
“don’t you think it’s kind of funny that we kept bumping into each other the first few times?” jae had his chin in his palm, his notes long forgotten as he stared at the female in front of him, a lopsided grin on his lips. they have been studying for the past hour or so, and truth to be told, he was getting bored. and maybe a little distracted. something about akina’s hair was strangely beautiful under the library lights. has she been using a new conditioner? — not that he’s been paying attention or anything. “for a while, i thought you were my biggest fan.” he teased, his tone confident. it was common for him to joke around with the engineering student, finding it satisfying whenever he managed to crack a smile out of her. plus, in times like this, when everyone is mulling and stressing over the upcoming mid-terms, it doesn’t hurt to have a little break time.
hnydews:
fight the bad guys. save the day. go home. that’s how it’s supposed to be, and chorong was perfectly happy with the rather repetitive nature of her not-so-normal life.
there was a lot of risk involve when it comes to superpowered vigilante work. her father would definitely be upset with her for her double life, even if she had done a lot of good as sparkle. she was pretty much all that he had left since her mother passed. but chorong couldn’t sit by and let people suffer if there was something she could do to help.
she doesn’t feel it at first. she could definitely taste it, though. that familiar copper and all as she collapsed to the ground, heart knocking against her chest when the pain finally sank in. has the night sky ever had this amount of stars? chorong saw that pleasantly surprised look on the asshole’s face and dammit, she wanted to burn his face off. she could, if she had the strength.
her dad would understand if tonight was her last. he knew how much she adored shadow and would understand even more once her identity was revealed. she couldn’t help but to take the hit for shadow. she loved him, but most importantly, shadow was her partner. her friend. friends protect each other.
“i’m okay, i’m o—” chorong whimpered as she tried to pick herself up. whatever that jerk did to her, it was unbearable. “you have to catch him. you can’t let him go, shadow! he’s going to hurt more people if he escapes.”
he breathed a sigh of relief once sparkle replied to him. she’s alive! but he could tell she was in pain from the way she struggled to stand up and the obvious wince from her face didn’t go unnoticed by him either. anger began to course through him again and kiseok clenched his fists, wanting nothing more than to give the man before hell for doing this to his partner.
but there were more important matters at hand. he couldn’t possibly leave sparkle alone in the middle of a sketchy alleyway, not when she was vulnerable like this. kneeling down next to her, kiseok put his hand on her shoulder. “stop. you shouldn’t move too much, the pain might get worse.” his touch was gentle so as not to inflict more affliction than it probably already was. he had never been this close to her before and for a moment, he swore he could recognize her eyes behind the mask from somewhere. “i’m not going to leave you.” as much as he wanted to track the man down before he could cause more harm to civilians, kiseok knew he wouldn’t be able to get his head straight, probably filled with worries for sparkle than the actual mission. “let the cops handle it this time.”
giving her a once-over, he bit his lip, cursing himself for not being able to intercept the whole disaster quicker. maybe then she wouldn’t be on the ground in the first place. “where does it hurt? should— should i bring you to the hospital?” there was hesitation in his voice, knowing that if they did went to the hospital, they would be facing a lot of questions and might even get in trouble but at the end of the day, he would risk anything if it meant she would be okay.
rapdfires:
she blinked a couple of times, perplexity written all over her face. every inch of her body hurt but not as much as her head. she felt it as soon as as she moved, pushing her self upright causing herself to flinch momentarily. her hand reached out to touch her head only to find it heavily bandaged. the man’s actions surprised her. she found herself staring at him and at their hands, bewildered, unsure how to react. she wasn’t sure about how to react about everything.
“m—minho?” sooyoung repeated. pausing, trying hard to remember who he was only to be even more frustrated. how could he remember him when she couldn’t even remember who she was. “im sorry. am i supposed to know who you are?” she suddenly felt sad that she couldn’t remember him. her heart broke looking at him. was that possible? for your heart to break for someone who you don’t know? an accident would explain as to why she was at a hospital and why she couldn’t remember anything. tears streamed down her face, her frustration finally catching up to her. “i—i am sorry. i am sorry,” she shook her head. “i— i wish i was,” sooyoung sniffed, slowly prying her hand away from his, coiling her fingers back. “i don’t know who you are, who i am, where i am. i—i don’t know.” she mumbled, tucking her hair back. “can you call the nurse? can you call my mom? you know my mom right? i—ah— my head hurts.”
minho didn't know what to think or feel as he stared at sooyoung, who used to know him inside-and-out better than anyone else, the unrecognizable look on her face almost taunting him. he would have never thought this kind of thing would happen — in tv shows, maybe but not in real life — yet it was as if his worst nightmare had come true. could it be that this was the universe’s way of telling him he fucked up? because if so, it was definitely working.
“don’t apologize,” he muttered under his breath, looking down at his empty hand. her touch still lingered and he held onto the feeling, knowing that it would be a while until he could feel it again. or maybe even never, he shuddered at the thought. “it’s not your fault.” it’s mine. i did this to you. if you never walked away, if i wasn’t such a drunk asshole, maybe you would never be here in the first place.
minho resisted the urge to be close to her as she winced, complaining about her head. there were boundaries he couldn’t cross now, the years spent on their relationship going down the drain. just like that. “i’m going to call the nurse. and your mom. just—” try to remember me, he swallowed the words, not wanting to push her over the edge any more than he had done. with one last look at her, he turned around and left the room, his heart growing even heavier than when he entered.

if there was one person she didn’t expect to see in the store, it was sanha. but there he was. it made her wonder why he was getting a phone in the first place. she knew not everyone wanted one. taking a deep breath, hana made her way over to the counter. hana herself was there to upgrade her phone. after having the same one for a few years, she was due for a new phone anything. “back then, people actually met in person too.” she pointed out as she came to stand next to him. “need someone to teach you how to use the phone?” looking over at him, she raised an eyebrow..
sanha tried his best not to look surprised at the sight of hana in the store though there was a small part of him that was relieved to see her. ever since their first meeting, he felt a strange pull towards her, one that he has been having trouble to avoid these days. there was no need for him to get attached to another mortal, not when he knew they would leave him in the end. yet he couldn’t find himself to turn down her offer. “would it require any payment in return? or are you doing this out of the kindness of your heart?” he mirrored her raise of eyebrows, not wanting to seem eager in front of her. he has too much ego for that.
rapdfires:
nevermind the phone that fell off the fire escape and down into the city streets. nevermind the painful feeling in her chest or the buzzing in her ears. how was she supposed to take everything in? the kiss? the sudden confession? how? miyeon stared at hanbin in anguish, perplexity, and horror. she wanted to run away, to hide forever, to forget this night ever happened but she couldn’t. she stood there frozen as he spoke because the truth was, no matter how much she wanted to run away from him, she couldn’t because she feared that if she did she’d lose him. his was a situation she couldn’t relate to nor could she understand; it was a scenario you would only see in the movies but heck it was as if she were in one. slowly, she shook her head. no. she didn’t regret kissing him. despite the confusion she was feeling, she didn’t regret it one bit but miyeon was a realist, maybe to a fault, and although she wanted to live in this fantasy, she couldn’t. she shouldn’t.
“i don’t regret it.” her eyes looked at him sadly. she didn’t know who she was sadder for: him or for herself? “i don’t regret kissing you and if i had a choice, i would do it again. but it doesn’t change anything, hanbin. at the end of the day, you’re engaged and i am someone desperately wanting someone i can’t have. so what does that leave me with? what do we do?” she slowly pried her arm away from his grasp, stepping backwards, away from him. oh how painful it was to put distance between them when all she wanted was to be in his arms again.
he wished the circumstances had been different. he wished he wasn’t tied down to anyone or have the weight of a company’s future on his shoulders. maybe then he wouldn’t feel guilty. and maybe, just maybe, he would be having the best night of his life with someone he’d fallen hard for.
but that was a reality away.
this was the hard-hitting truth: people like him, spoon-fed with silver since the day he was born, don’t fall for people like her, hair tied up working day and nights in emergency rooms. the moment he met her, he knew she wouldn’t be the kind his parents would approve of. they accepted socialites, not doctors-to-be. but something — everything — about her had pulled him in, enough to keep him wanting more than just friends.
“pretend,” he answered as he stepped forward towards her, his hand reaching out to gently caress her cheeks. love and desire were running in his veins, his heart beating rapidly. “why can’t we just pretend? isn’t it enough that we both have feelings for each other? nothing else should matter.” he tilted her face upwards so his lips were mere inches from hers, only waiting for her to close the gap.
“just you and me.”
ineverlands:
his eyes follow where her fingers point and poke at him, meeting her gaze after the assault on his chest. “hurtful.” came his dry response to being called not fun. it’s not the first time ilsung has been called as such, nor did he find it offensive in any way. he’s well aware of how dull he can be, but knowing she’s only teasing him about it lightened his mood by a margin. “yes.” he answers anyway. “it’s your job. it should be done right.” he has little to no knowledge about wedding arrangements outside of what micha has told him during their briefings and visits to all sorts of stores. but from what he’s seen, she’s passionate with making the right calls and its obvious that she loves her job, which is something ilsung admires about her. whenever he sees her, she’s always wearing a smile, and he often finds himself wondering if she even has her down moments. her question caught him off-guard, and the look on her face almost made him want to say yes, but he knows if prompted for a specific memory he’ll only draw a blank, so he opts not to answer. “i’m sure it wouldn’t be a problem for those two. anything the other touches is immediately planted in their heads.” the number of examples he could list down makes him sick, but he thought it’d reassure her at least, so he marches on. “i can’t eat any chocolate macademia in front of them, else they’d get lost talking about their hawaii trip that happened three years ago.”
there’s a reason why she likes dragging having him around, despite them being different like day and night, but there was no one else that knew the soon-to-be-married couple better than he does and it had helped her in more ways than one during her wedding plans. plus! getting him to drop the grumpy act is always a fun task. “chocolate macadamia, huh?” micha tilted her head slightly to the left, a wistful smile on her lips as an idea came to her then. “should i call up the caterers and have them add that into the menu? nothing like a good nostalgia on your most important day, am i right?” she was bouncing on the balls of her feet now, already getting excited at the prospect before her stomach began to grumble, reminding her that she hadn’t eaten anything since morning except for a packet of protein bar she managed to pick up from her office’s kitchen before leaving to meet ilsung. “also, speaking of food…want to grab lunch together?” she practically beamed at the older male. “unless you’re busy, which is…understandable, of course.” sometimes she forgets that he’s a divorce lawyer, the kind of job she refused to believe even exists, but alas, ilsung was real (and cynical) as it gets.
uikas:
– “oh just look at us becoming very special for each other in mere seconds. and they say romance is dead.” he smirked, watching how whole adam’s face flushed, crimson spreading to his neck. there was something endearing about how he initiated the conversation only to get all shy and soft throughout it. the other student seemed like a genuine guy, a kind of guy you could introduce your parents to. or take on a double date without worrying he’d hit on your girl. those images had flashed through jonah’s mind while they were sitting in silence as he took time to save up boy’s contact info. he even sent him a cute sticker as form of saying hi without using words. they didn’t feel needed, the silence between them feeling unawkward.
it’s something jonah noticed as well while finishing second plate of japchae. adam ordered it just for him when he shyly admitted he still was starved. he hadn’t realized how much his body longed for good, nutritious food until it was served to him. something about his eating habits would have to change, once he finally learns how to live on his own.
“so, what made you come back from states?” he asked and took a sip of his drink, then wiping his lips off with a napkin before folding it neatly to set it on side of his now empty dish. the sun shed its golden rays down upon adam’s face, bringing the other to his hometown and the countless sunsets he’d seen at beaches of hualien. the smell of philippine sea he loved to surf in, back in these days of freedom and juvenile innocence.
adam had been afraid that their conversations would be awkward since they were still getting to know each other, and his teeny tiny crush might affect his ability to think wisely, but surprisingly, everything felt natural. he could see himself talking to the other male for hours or just simply sit in comfortable silence, like what they were doing now, with a few questions here and there in between mouthfuls of food.
“from the states? ah-” he swallowed his food slowly, thinking over the question in his head. it wasn’t that hard to answer, he had been asked the question way more than he could count on his fingers once people figured out he was american-raised, but most of the time, he would simply grin and tell them it’s because he wanted to learn more about his roots. he’d been gone from korea for far too long, after all. it was a simple answer. straight to the point and sometimes earned him brownie points from the grandmas.
staring at jonah, though, urged him to be honest.
“i just thought it would be a good way to escape.” he shrugged, hoping it would come off as a nonchalant answer. “my parents were the overbearing kind and i needed some time away to be myself. plus, i always wanted to live in korea. get to live the culture i never gotten to be a part of.” there were times he wondered if his childhood would be different if he was raised as wonsik instead of adam but it wasn’t like he had an option in the first place. “what about you?” he twirled the noodles in his bowl mindlessly as he looked at jonah with a smile, hoping to turn the conversation around. maybe get to dig a little deeper. “why did you chose to study here?”
owterspaces:
the smile yujin gave him before replying didn’t reach her eyes, the entire situation still too weird for her. “of course.” she shrugged, moving around the kitchen, already knowing where everything they would need was at. “you probably weren’t eating enough this week. so i brought a lot.” yujin scolded him. whenever she wasn’t around to bring or cook real food, taeil would survive of instant ramen and water for days.
“we can eat and watch a movie at the same time.” was her answer. again, it did seem like he was trying to get her out as quickly as possible, and it hurt a little, but yujin wasn’t going so easily. she might’ve given up on getting her answers in the first try, but she had the time to stay and bring it up again later. “i know you’re not the greatest multitasker, but it doesn’t take a lot of brain work to do this.”
yujin set the table and sat down in her usual spot, grabbing a slice of pizza. “so, the movie. 13 going on 30. i feel like going back to the 2000′s and relate a little to jenna today.” she rambled, not wanting the room to be silent and awkward. “soju?” yujin offered, pouring some for herself.
it sent a pang to his heart at how well yujin knew him. she was right, though. he hadn’t been eating enough for the past few days, too caught up in his studies and avoidance of feelings that he had been neglecting his basic needs. if his mother had known, he would never hear the end of it, he was sure.
the sight of the various food on the table had never looked so appetizing and it didn’t take long before he followed her actions and grabbed a slice of pizza, munching on it in seconds. “i will try but no promises. you know how my brain is. too many medical terms, too little space.” taeil replied in between a mouthful of pizza, trying his best to lighten the mood.
the name of the movie, however, made him stop eating altogether, swallowing it rather slowly while his eyes widened slightly. “13 going on 30?” they have watched the movie together before and while he didn’t mind the concept of rewatching, the movie, in particular, hit a little too close to his heart at the moment. a story of best friends? falling in love? was yujin trying to imply something by choosing that specific movie or was it just in his head? he didn’t have time to ponder about it for long as yujin offered him a drink, snapping him out of his thoughts. “yes, please.” he held up his glass. if he was going to make it through the night, soju might just be the thing he needs at times like this.
downing the drink in one shot, he looked at yujin with a small smile, finally finding himself some liquid courage to stare at her in the eye. “shall we start the movie?”
flirtvus:
every kiss pressed against her only shattered the already wrecked heart she wore on her sleeve harder. he sounded like he meant it. i love you. you don’t say that to someone unless you truly meant it, or so that’s what was left of heart wished so severely. her cheeks glistened wet with tears as she tried desperately to move away from elijah. “no, no, no, get away from me.” aerin cried, closing her eyes in hopes that this was just a nasty dream. that she’ll wake up from it to find elijah laying beside her, awaking from his own nightmare and they’d comfort each other. hold each other and tell one another that it was just a dream.
but reality isn’t a dream you can wake up from.
pressing shaky hands against the chest she loved burying her face into, the girl pushed him away with as much strength as one broken person could muster. “a mistake? you knew about this from the beginning. how the hell is that a mistake, elijah?” she sounded exasperated at this point, moving further away from him as eyes burned into the man whom her heart yearned for. aerin was angry at this point; how dare he? “for a professor, you’re pretty fucking stupid if you think i will ever forgive you.” though her voice sounded like water, she hoped it cut through him like a knife. “you have truly ruined my life.”
elijah knew, at that moment, he had fucked up miserably. there was no coming back from this, he was sure. the way she pushed him away left a particular sting to his chest and he wanted nothing more than to wrap her up in his arms again. but her words were sharp, nothing short of hurtful and his face fell listening to the malice intended for him. he deserved it, he knew he deserved it but he wasn’t about to give up on her or the relationship he had become so invested in.
“aerin…” running his hands through his hair, he let out a deep sigh. it was a constant struggle to find the words he wanted to say. “your uncle wasn’t a good man in the first place. he would have brought down your family whether or not i exposed him...” he knew aerin wouldn't want to hear it from him, the fact that her family reputation was tainted now. "it's for the best, don't you think? i was doing what's good for you." he had done it because of his family, but it wasn't like it was far from the truth. elijah genuinely cared about her, there was no doubt about that, but sometimes he had to twist the truth to make her stay.
i’m finally done with my mid-terms (!!!) and going to be staying home until wednesday so i will be doing some changes to my theme (when will i ever be satisfied smh) and get to my replies soon (●´ω`●)
