. i was trying to reblog-add on to a post i Thought i made. but i cant find it. and its not in my drafts? so possibly i accidentally sent it into my queue, where it is lost behind over 600 other post.
anyway.
i made the first attempt at pacifying my adhd into letting me read Actual Books via my new yet beloved rocking chair.
the theory was this: rocking motion + instrumental music = enough stimulation to let me focus?
and i am happy to report that IT WORKED 🎉🎉🎉
started out with a book ive been meaning to read for a while, right after taking my sleep meds. that way, i had a concrete deadline: either itd work, and i would read before going to bed on time due to Passing Out, or it wouldnt, and the frustration couldnt keep me up. due to Passing Out.
i read the whole intro!!! 18 pages in ~45 minutes doesnt feel like a lot to me, but admittedly the font is pretty small? and i DID have to stop not bc i lost focus, but because my sleep meds kicked in way earlier than id expected.
there are some minor hiccups (need a seating cushion and something to rest my hands on, download the music so i dont keep getting assaulted by ads...) but this was way more successful than id hoped for!!!
there's nothing i like more as a computer program than a long period of silent contemplation - not doing anything, not rushing anywhere, just standing here and enjoying this moment with the user. oh, it seems once again he has summoned my beautiful and ruthless wife Task Manager. hello, my darling! what are you doing with that long cruel scimitar
*taps mic* Rocky should've been on the tumblr sexyman poll instead of Grace. *leaves*
“Put him on his knees give him something to believe in” has the exact same energy and depth of meaning as anything Hozier puts out on the regular but since it’s sung by Megan Thee Stallion no one takes it seriously. In this essay I will-
To flesh this out a little bit more: both Megan Thee Stallion and Hozier write and sing really sexual songs, but they’re different in that Hozier’s music is typically “let me worship you” while Megan’s is usually “I’m worshipping myself,” which makes all the difference because it’s an acceptance of power rather than the giving of it. He’s the sinner, she’s the saint. However, taking their difference in genres out of it, people don’t usually seem to take Megan Thee Stallion’s music seriously in comparison to Hozier because a) her lyrics are more overtly and blatantly sexual and b)she’s claiming her sexuality for herself, and that scares a lot of people. The secret, no-one-wants-to-talk-about reason is that she’s a confident black woman, which terrifies people way than sex does. In conclusion, Hozier and Megan Thee Stallion are two sides of the same poetic, sexual coin, but people just don’t want to admit it. Which is WHY a collaboration between Hozier and Megan would be so powerful that it would change the timeline as we know it yes I will elaborate
✸ vintage black beauty is live!
i've been asked where/how to find early-mid 20th century images of black people to reference when drawing/writing/whatever, so i figured i'd link to my own personal resource anyone is welcome to utilize! :)
with over 900 pins and counting, this pinterest board focuses entirely on black style from the 1800s - 1970s. it’s been harder than ever to research historical fashion without running into AI, misinformation, and flat out mislabeling of different eras, so i’ve done my best to represent each period as accurately as i can.
i’ve included sections for non-caricatured art and illustration, print media, music, entertainment, styling tools, and ads. there are also sections for period pieces and more modern takes on vintage style. i did not add the 80s and 90s because there's already a wealth of imagery and information about those decades, but maybe one day :)
My most diagnosable take is that honestly. As much as people in social justicey spaces talk about exercising your empathy ... there's also value in being able to turn it off so you're not extremely susceptible to emotional manipulation. Sometimes you have to be able to recognize "oh, this is bullshit propaganda trying to tug at my heartstrings" and stop giving a fuck about like. Colonizer feelings or whatever. Vibes can't override your principles
Like idk being niceys is a good start but your politics can't begin and end with 🌈 kindness 🌈 or you're gonna get taken advantage of. The worst people on earth will be like "but what if........ I have a sob story about it 🥺" & you Need to be able to tell them to Fuck Completely Off
There's a certain strain of ... Everyone Is Valid 🌸 style pseudo leftism that ime invariably caters to whoever throws the biggest tantrum. And this is a Problem interpersonally & it's especially bad if you let these people dictate your opinions. Not everyone is valid some of you are racist

I feel like fandom in general pretty desperately needs to reconcile the fact that characters can be both interesting characters and terrible fathers without one factor taking away from the other. And this does not just apply to biological or adopted fathers!
Like, that man being dad-coded is already debatable, but if he is dad-coded, it's absentee-or-outright-deranged-father-coded. And that's fine. Not every character needs to be a dad and the fact that fandom pigeonholes so many sucky or pathetic men (/lovingly) into one dad-shaped hole is frustrating.
one time I told my therapist "I tend to have issues with people who think of themselves as authority figures" and she burst out laughing and then said "I think we need to pause and reflect on how you phrased that"
I mean, what, was I supposed to refer to them as if they actually are authority figures? those don't exist
sometimes i can’t stop liking my mutuals posts and i get really insecure like i do not mean to bother you i just agree with everything you say. and i love you
So the thing is boobs really do be jiggling. If having breasts has taught me anything it is that the ladies frolic. I don't even have that large of boobs but every time I go down some stairs all I can think about is that stupid quote about boobing breastily down the stairs or whatever it is because God Damn.
But anime and video game boob jiggling is like. The most uncanny valley shit I've ever seen nine times out of ten. You would think people this horny about tits would have actually looked at some but I guess not.
What we really need is some pervert to compile the ultimate visual guide to boob bouncing physics that's just like 500 hours of meticulously organized videos of breasts of different size and shape and under different fabrics bouncing around from a wide variety of physical movements so horny game devs can finally get it right and I don't have to be creeped out by women who appear to have surgically implanted softballs in their chest under skin made of rubber bands.
