Should I knock? Should I wait for her to call?
There stood Gary Oak pacing outside of a girl's door, over-thinking such a small detail, trying to figure out what would be the smoothest move. Should he knock, to let Misty know that he and Umbreon were here to pick them up for the picnic they had planned? Or should he wait, not wanting to seem overly anxious to see her? After all, they'd been spending quite a bit of time together lately and he didn't want her to get the wrong idea. He couldn't risk having her think that he had a thing for her, because that would be absolutely true f a l s e.
Raising a hand to eye level, he nearly knocked it against the door, but pulled his hand back just in the knick of time, knuckles silently grazing the paint. Umbreon, who had been standing at the researcher's side the entire time, stood on her hind legs to paw at the trainer's hand and turned, hopping over to the curb in one swift motion and sat down, swinging her tail against the ground next to her. Immediately understanding, Gary obliged and went to sit next to her, careful to not get his jeans dirty or sit on a rock.
The Moonlight Pokemon quickly squirmed around until she was curled up, head in her trainer's lap. Patting her head, he sighed. "I know, girl. I'm being stupid." Pulling out his PokeGear, he sent his sister a text to tell her that he wouldn't be home for a while--though she probably wouldn't either, considering she'd just found herself a new boyfriend--and checked the clock. If they left now, they'd probably get to the spot just in time to set up and watch the sunset during their picnic.
The Kanto native rubbed at Umbreon's side quickly and patted twice, to let her know he was about to get up, without even saying a word. He almost reached into the back seat once he got up, for flowers that he bought her, but ditched on the way there, since friends didn't get friends flowers for friendly picnics. Stepping up to the door with his best friend at his side, he readied his hand to knock, and.... ultimately just rang the bell.
"'Sup? Ya ready?"
