I bought one of those ceramic paint your own christmas trees from a discount store and over did it by alot. I made a garland from beads, ornaments from polymer clay, added ribbon, and made bows for the presents :)
Using Up All My Sewing Scraps Saga Part One
Here is what I have made so far while trying to clear out my fabric scraps! Two sting ray plushies (I used the patterns from @tj-crochets) and two nap time sets with matching bunnies who have their own blankies!
Using Up All My Sewing Scraps Saga Part Two
Another thing I have done is cram some scraps from each quilt into a big ornament to have forever to hang on the Chirstmas tree :)
Since I made myself a ornament with my hobby scraps, I decided to make one for my wife and her hobby (reading). She read 75 books this year, so I printed out the covers for each book onto sticker paper, I stuck them onto a piece of foam and filled another ornament to hang up next to mine.
I use TurboCollage to print the covers and got the idea from a youtube short. I'm going to post the covers I used so if you want to make one without having to find your own books you can have it :)
I have been learning how to book bind out of necessity rather than wanting of a new hobby. For a holiday gift, I filled a moleskin notebook full of art, poetry and love notes for my wife over the course of a year. I didnt realize how shitty these note books were so by November of this year, It was busting at the spine and I was having to hold it shut with one of my wood working clamps.
So I bought the simple guide to book binding by unbind books and went to work. now it opens and looks so much better! It's definitely not perfect but I think that's part of the charm :3
