my friend commissioned a cameo of zenos' va for me for my birthday last year & i still have it saved in my bookmarks ( admitting i'm a zenos simp )

it's maybe already obvious, but final fantasy is incredibly important to me & is probably ( definitely ) my biggest and most long-standing hyperfixation, steming as far back as when i was a kid. my late mum played ff7 when i was a baby, and i was scrambling for the controller and loading her saves when i didn't even understand how to play the game. i've since long surpassed the 99 hour cap on the save file times more than once FHJKD ( and have 110+ hours in xvi 🙏 )

i bought a gamecube last year & some games including legend of zelda, but have yet to play them. i lowkey wanted to write link, but haven't played a game save for the beginning of botw KFJHD i'm moving soon so will probably start playing things later this year upon getting everything set up / furniture in place. ( this is a threat concerning what to expect next year )

mostly putting this here to gather my thoughts, but i'll tag it as headcanon just to keep it safe. clive has definitely ventured outside of rosalith on many occasions, but the times he was able to truly enjoy venturing outside of the kingdom are few and far between. he cherishes the time spent traveling with elwin and / or byron in his youth, but i imagine many of these instances were primarily undertaken as journeys of necessity and secondarily as a means to let clive see the world, or to enjoy time spent with him. elwin & byron would most likely have to make excuses up in order to take clive with them, but as clive grew older and the pressure for him to be a shield first and son or nephew second ( namely thanks to a certain mother ) it became more difficult for them to have any time spent together as family, or even for clive to be given the opportunity to journey with either of them as a shield in training. his training was mostly overseen by sir rodney, and i imagine any time / 95% of the time that clive was to venture out on a mission and / or for more hands-on training, he was the one charged with his care.

side note to that: despite his young age / maybe especially because of it, clive begun to see sir rodney as something akin to family. with both clive's and his father's responsibilities ( as well as anabella... just generally speaking ) getting in the way of his time spent with or as a family, he found a sort of pseudo second family in the knights, but primarily rodney. they played a large role in helping shape the kind and brave man he would grow to be, and despite the plain might of eikonic blessings, he would be nowhere near as savvy with a sword or in battle at all were it not for them. clive feels indebted to them in some ways.

CAUGHT RED-HANDED in the most literal sense, flame flickering in his palm, clive hesitates a moment before coming to the realization that the enemies had, in fact, already perished. however long ago is unbeknownst to him ⸻ the thrum of adrenaline & eikon's energy only now beginning to simmer. catching his breath, he turns to jill and snuffs out the flame with the curling of his fist. he can't help but display a look not unlike torgal caught misbehaving.

" ... you're right. my apologies. " with a bashful smile, clive sheathes the sword upon his back and subconsciously reaches to his side, ruffling torgal's fur as though to assure him ( all snarls and raised hackles, supposedly not, either, having reached the conclusion that the danger has been dealt with ) that the fight is over. at least, for the time being. " behaviour unbefitting a knight the likes of sir crandall. i shall try my best to ensure it doesn't happen again, my lady. " he furrows his brow with mock solemnity, giving her an apologetic bow.

just as a heads up, i have still not finished the game. i am very slow and walk around like i'm sightseeing in game / do every side quest / talk to every npc / pet torgal every few minutes. if you post explicit spoilers without tags or a read more, i may softblock temporarily ( if you don't wish to follow back at a later date that's fine )
