i understand why folks jump to calling reigen a dad for acting as mob’s caretaker but like. his relationship to mob is textbook ‘uncle and nephew’ shit. in that they like and care about each other and mob respects him as a mentor and elder figure, but treats him in a way that aligns more with the way he treats his friends than the way he treats his actual father. while on reigen’s side…. i’m pretty sure he sees mob as a son figure, as most caring uncles do, but his responsible streaks mix with his natural selfish bastard ways and the fact that he’s not really aiming to act as an actual father.

so their dynamic in the end turns out to be that mob trusts in reigen as someone more experienced than him and as someone he can share things and ask for advices he wouldn’t be comfortable with sharing and asking from his parents, while reigen truly cares for him as a child he must set an example for but also isn’t above messing with the kid or involving him in weird cases. classic uncle nephew dynamic, if you ask me.
