My Dark Matter headcanons are all over the place, so I suppose this is my attempt to organize them.
The Dark Matter we see at the end of K64 (02) is the leader of all the Dark Matters we see in the Kirby series, the Core. She is actually named Dark Crown, and in a fitting twist is imprisoned within the Master Crown. The crown’s shattering at the end of Magolor Epilogue may have released Dark Crown, or she could still remain trapped within the crown’s shards.
Dark Crown is an incarnation of Void, created using the emotions of despair and tragedy. She suffers from severe depression, and wants to destroy everyone who hates her so that she can be happy again.
Unfortunately, Dark Crown believes everyone hates her. She will only achieve true happiness once every living being, other than her and her children, is destroyed.
Dark Crown has hundreds of children, but only the 5 most powerful ones are important in terms of lore.
00, AKA Miracle Matter. She is dead as a doornail, but she is and will always be Dark Crown’s favorite. 00 represents the emotion of disappointment.
01 is the essence of regret. She has made many difficult decisions, all of which have had disastrous outcomes. Dark Crown is hardly ever mad at her, though.
02 used to embody grief, but a Dream Matter inclusion has changed her to the embodiment of hope. Despite being Dark Crown’s current favorite, 02 wishes more than anything to disconnect from her creator.
03 represents heartbreak, and she just can’t seem to catch a break! She constantly tries to earn Dark Crown’s favor, but her efforts always lead to her creator’s rage.
A long time ago, 04 attempted to rebel against Dark Crown and kill her. Clearly this attempt failed, because now 04 is trapped in a cycle of eternal torture as punishment for her betrayal.
That’s everything for now. I’m sure more lore will explode in my face within the next week or so, but until then, this is it, I guess.
