Pre-season 2016 updates The first players are due to arrive back for work in Valdebebas on July 15; in total, 13 players will have had 47 days of holidays (Navas, Casilla, Yáñez, Varane, Carvajal, Danilo, Marcelo, Nacho, Isco, Jesé and Benzema) - apart from Casemiro, who was at Copa América with Brazil until June 14 (32 days holiday) and Coentrão, who is injured. Zidane will be expecting the arrival of the second group, of three players, on July 25. Modrić and Kovačić were involved at the Euros until Croatia were eliminated by Portugal on June 25, and James, who was at Copa América until June 26. The Croatians will have 30 days of holidays and James, one less - 29. The Spanish internationals, Ramos, Morata and Lucas Vázquez, will arrive two days later on the 27th.
The four EURO semi-finalists - Cristiano Ronaldo, Toni Kroos, Gareth Bale and Pepe, will report back for pre-season on August 1 after being given extended leave by Zinedine Zidane. After enjoying 3 weeks of holiday, the four players will fly to New York where Real Madrid will be based for the last 3 days of their North American pre-season tour. They’ll have missed the first two matches against Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea but will arrive in time for the third against Bayern Munich in New Jersey. However, after only two training sessions, it’s more likely that the players will be saved until the UEFA Supercup final against Sevilla (August 9). For the majority of the squad the hard work begins in Montreal, during which time they will be based at the facilities of Impact FC, a high performance centre where the club will train for nine consecutive days (from July 17 to 26).
