Kylo’s voice stays controlled. “That doesn’t answer my question.” “I don’t intend to answer it.” His gaze drops to her satchel strap. To the weight she brought with her. “You came here for something.” Rey’s fingers curl. “I’m seeking answers.” “As am I.” He steps closer, and the distance between them tightens in a way that has nothing to do with space. His voice lowers. “Perhaps our paths will cross again soon.”

After their Force-bond spatial breech on Ahch-To, Kylo sets off to find the answers he seeks, while Rey is finding hers.

Rey feels it first, a change in the space behind her reflection’s eyes, a tightening in the cave as if it’s paying attention now. As if it’s considering her worth. The sound comes back to her. An echo. A fragment of her own voice, yet not exactly. The words return changed, reshaped by the dark. The first echo is soft and distant: Alone. Rey’s fingers curl slightly, but she doesn’t move away. The the second echo, still a darker fragmented version of her voice, now with a mournful tone: Abandoned.
