Both Leiftan and Lance are evil. They both have made horrible things. But I think Lance is even more dangerous and evil than Leiftan. He's stubborn, selfish and shows no sympathy for others. He couldn't understand why the dragons would sacrifice for a better world, he didn't even understand why his mother sacrificed for him and Valkyon. He learned that dragons wanted a safe and a better world for him, his brother and all faeries...

I respect your opinion but I don’t agree and I’ll tell you why. You say Lance is more evil and dangerous than Leiftan, well dangerous maybe yes, because at the moment Leiftan is half an aengel while Lance is a full dragon. Evil, I don’t think so.

Lance is at the same time a complicated man and a very simple character. He and his brother were raised as orphans by a village of good people, then he moved to the Guard where, thanks to his exceptional skills, became the leader of the Obsidian guard. Up until that point he was a good and just man, everyone who knew him had nothing but praises and compliments for him. But when he became leader he started learning the insights of the Guard, the fishy ways it operated and the horrible things it did (apparently before Miiko became leader things were even worse) and, most of all, he learned the truth about the Blue Sacrifice and what happened to his people, how survivors were persecuted and killed in the vague hope of stabilising Eldarya.
He snapped.
Is it right? Is it just? Is it fair? I think the answer is personal. If I knew that my parents, my family, and in a larger context my whole race had been sacrificed and persecuted for pure selfishness, I would feel sick. Does this justify his following actions? Well, it depends.
What are exactly his actions? The main one is that he first tried and then succeeded at destroying the crystal. But do we know exactly what this mean? The end of Eldarya, yes, but it doesn’t seem to mean the end of everyone living there, otherwise why would so many people ally with him? They can’t be all suicidal. It seems to me, that if Eldarya crumbles, all the faeries just end up back on Earth, where they were supposed to be in the first place. In his mind he is righting a wrong. Eldarya is fucked up on so many levels, and he is taking things into his own hands.
Now, how he’s doing it is debatable. He’s violent and completely obsessed with his mission but, and here is the thing, he doesn’t hurt for sport or pleasure, everything is finalised to his goal. He is a soldier who is fighting enemies, and he treats them as such. But, in the few brief moments his mind his not completely occupied by revenge thoughts, you can see his real personality coming through, and you can see he is capable of kindness.

And several other instances where he does nice things when he’s not thinking, when he’s not wearing that mask he’s now so used to after years of hate.
And when that mask is off, he’s such a child, he likes teasing and playing, Erika herself gets shocked sometimes at seeing these carefree and playful sides of him
And this scene serves also to show that he is actually more open-minded than many others, while Erika thinks all krakens are evil, he tells her that’s not true, and in episode 28 you have the chance to save the krakens too.
Lance has proved over and over again that when he’s not completely twisted by his revenge he’s capable of kindness and love, and this is the corner stone around which his whole character revolves: he loves too much, and he is in constant pain for this
his whole twisted agenda and personality formed because he couldn’t stand evilness and injustice, and his own sense of justice got dark, he ended up becoming what he wanted to fight against, but not completely.
The game is very explicit in pointing out that Lance had no plan in exterminating the Kappas, they weren’t part of the Blue sacrifice thus they weren’t his enemies, he is very simple in his way of thinking.
He is very alone, depressed and angry, this combination in someone as powerful as he is makes him a very dangerous person. He’s not currently able to see that his ways are too misguided, someone else might have stopped when they’d learned that his parents had sacrificed themselves voluntarily, but he can only see that they did something pointless for people who didn’t appreciate it, people who ended up committing terrible acts to save themselves, completely disrespecting the act of extreme selfless that had been done for them. He’s not the one who is making the dragon’s sacrifice pointless, but the people of Eldarya did. And he can’t stand it, it’s like a blade twisting in his brain over and over again.
And this is both why he can’t see reason and why he will be redeemed: he is originally a kind man, who appreciate goodness and kindness above everything else, and this is what will bring him to the light in the end.
I can’t compare with Leiftan because the vast majority of Leiftan’s personality and actions have been completely fake. He is kind with Erika because he loves her, but everything else? We can’t trust any of it. We know he too is full of hate and capable of killing anyone against him. He seems to also have a sad story behind, and I think that in the end his motivations and reasons are not so different from Lance.
Now, the real reasons why some people believe that Lance is worse than Leiftan are two:
1) Lance attacks companions, and I agree it’s terrible because in our minds companions are pets. In Lance’s mind twisted by hate and rage, companions are not even living beings capable of feelings, they are the products of Eldarya’s creation and his race’s unjust demise. In his mind companions were born out of his parents’ deaths.
2) He is violent towards Erika. But here is the thing: Leiftan is in love with Erika, Lance is not. He doesn’t represent an abusive relationship because there is no relationship at all. At the moment he sees Erika as an enemy, with other enemies he has no problem in killing them ( or trying to) , while with Erika he had to wait until he was down the cliff, not directly looking at her, to make the rock she was on fall. The most pitiful attempted murder ever seen. He wasn’t even surprised when he saw her alive and health in episode 28. And when he didn’t see her as an enemy, he was the only one always honest with her, he told her about the portals and the potion.
For some people this may not be important, but I value honesty above anything else, and his behaviour is 10000 times more appealing to me than Leiftan’s constant lies. With Lance there’s no pretence, you get exactly what he offers: a sad, enraged, vindictive, abandoned child.
With Leiftan… Who knows? We are only sure that he is against violence on children, this shows he also has moral constraints and limits, but other than this we will have to find out. And we will.
Bom gente, eu estava parando para pensar na paleta de cores que a beemoov adicionou ao Lance em Eldarya New Era, e eu percebi que a cor predominante em sua paleta é o azul, e isso é muito interessante, porque quando paramos para analisar a psicologia dessa cor percebemos que tem muito haver com a história e a personalidade do personagem. Então eu resolvi fazer esse post para explicar sobre isso. Espero que gostem 💙
A associação primária da cor azul na maioria da história é com a verdade. Isso aconteceu porque o azul é a cor de um céu calmo e límpido, e é a reflexão calma que leva à verdade.
Essa cor reflete o desejo de ser puro. No manto da Virgem Maria, o azul simboliza o desapego da vida mundana, pureza e paz.
No Egito, as cenas da pesagem das almas eram pintadas com um fundo claro azul-celeste, pois os egípcios o consideravam a cor da verdade. No que respeita às diferentes tonalidades, o azul celeste é considerado o azul sacralizado.
Azul é uma cor imaterial, é a mais pura e mais profunda, além de ser a cor mais fria, considerada a mais fria entre os tons frios de azul, verde e violeta. Ela simboliza a água, elemento que Lance controla em seu estado sólido.
Usar azul na passagem para o Ano Novo pode ser uma forma de trazer amadurecimento e consequentemente tranquilidade.
Isso condiz com a história do personagem, pois depois da guerra ele busca redenção, e nós podemos ver em cenas como essa que ele busca apenas agir de forma honesta, com apenas a verdade e nada além da verdade.
Embora que desde o princípio de seu personagem, ele sempre mostrou odiar mentiras, já que um dos vários motivos dele ter traído a guarda foi por suas mentiras.
Ele também é o único personagem que é 100% sincero com a Guardiã, inclusive, chegando a contar para ela as mentiras da Guarda de Eel, como quando ele contou para ela dos portais, e a avisou sobre a poção do esquecimento.
Hoje em dia, o azul transmite principalmente tristeza e desespero. O termo “blue” significa tristeza em inglês. A conotação pode ser relacionada com lágrimas e chuva (e seus efeitos depressivos), já que a água é representada na mente das pessoas como azul. Na mitologia grega, Zeus fazia chover quando estava triste.
Nos Estados Unidos eles levam isso mais a sério, e podemos ver eles retratando isso em várias obras, como por exemplo, no desenho Divertidamente, onde todas as emoções são representadas por uma cor, e a tristeza é representa pelo azul.
Em inglês, "blue" quando for usado no contexto de estar ou se sentir, significa tristeza. Blue = sad, depressed. Exemplo:
"He'd been feeling blue all week." - Ele tem se sentido triste essa semana
E isso condiz totalmente com a atual situação de Lance no QG. Completamente sozinho, depois de perder seu irmão que era sua única família, e nem poder ver seu funeral, odiado e apenas tolerado por seus companheiros de guarda.
A tristeza que Lance deve sentir todos os dias é inimaginável. Ele perdeu seu único irmão por conta de seus próprios erros, e ele mesmo admite para a Guardiã no episódio 3, quando eles se encontram no mercado, que ele pensa nisso todos os dias, ele se culpa pela morte de Valkyon.
Ele não tem nenhum amigo no QG, o mais próximo disso que ele tem é o Mateus, que pode ser considerado mais como um fã do que como um amigo. Todos no QG odeiam ele, ninguém gosta dele, eles apenas o toleram na Guarda.
Fora o bullying que ele sofre por parte de alguns membros como o Karuto, que coloca pimenta em suas refeições propositalmente. E mesmo assim Lance não faz nada, ele apenas aceita e fica quieto.
Toda essa isolação que ele sofre deve acarretar em uma depressão profunda. Nós mesmos vimos em 2020 oque o isolamento social pode causar em nossas mentes, então juntamos isso + bullying + se culpar pela morte de seu irmão, durante 7 anos.
O Lance não tem como desabafar com alguém pela morte de seu irmão que ele se culpa, fazendo ele guardar todos esses sentimentos pesados para si mesmo.
Na verdade, Lance sempre apresentou sintomas de depressão, desde The Origins, como quando ele admitiu para a Guardiã que queria ter morrido durante um diálogo no episódio 26. E se ele realmente já sofria de depressão antes, isso com certeza se agravou em New Era pelos motivos já citados.
E por último, mas não menos importante. Azul também é a cor de seu signo, peixes. 💙

“Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!”
He spoke with a condescending smirk, his expression a mix of contempt and disinterest.
“Have you thought of moving to the Absinthe guard instead? And stop wasting everyone’s time… my time…”
With an angry gesture, I moved a lock of hair from my sweaty forehead, I knew that in my eyes he could see all the hate I felt for him.
“Seriously, how aren’t you dead already.”
“Not for lack of trying on your part, that’s for sure.” I replied spitefully.
He looked at me with half-lidded eyes, almost bored, but I knew him better than he thought, I knew I had struck a nerve.
“What a smart, pretty, little mouth. If only you put as much effort in your training.”
“If only you showed me what I’m doing wrong instead of keep taunting me!”
He moved behind me.
“You lack the basics. Even the way you hold your sword, look,” he said modifying my hold on the hilt, “this way is going to be more difficult for anyone to disarm you. The rest of your body should always be in a defensive mode even while you’re attacking,” his other arm reached mine, pushing it to my chest, while with one of his legs he pushed mine forward. “You should always try to take your enemy by surprise.”
I was only too aware of his broad chest at my back, his legs against mine, his whole body enveloping me. His breath as he spoke instructions directly to my ear.
“Try to break free, hit me.”
I felt a smirk forming on my lips. With pleasure. I didn’t like the reaction of my body to his touch.
I moved my arm, trying to hit his side with my elbow, but his hold on me only grew tighter. I then tried to kick him and step on his foot, but he simply moved his long leg out of the way.
“You are way too undisciplined, fighting like a wild monkey, you ignore everything I say, I should pun…”
I suddenly dropped my sword. The surprise made him slightly loose his hold on me, giving me enough room to elbow him in the ribs. I smiled at his pained groan, but I knew there was no time to waste. I grabbed his arm and, with a move that Karenn had recently taught me, I flipped him over, ending up straddling him on the ground. I reached for the dagger at my waist and pointed it at his neck.
“You should what?” I taunted. “'You should always try to take your enemy by surprise.' I don’t ignore everything you say.”
I was ecstatic. I could do whatever I wanted to him, he was at my complete mercy. I pressed the point of the dagger against his throat just a bit. I had never wanted to hurt someone so much.
His surprised expression turned sour first, and then almost elated as he smirked, feeling the blade against his skin.
“What are you thinking about, little aengel? Is there a little daemon hiding behind those candid feathers after all? Maybe Saint Erika is not as pure as she pretends she is?”
“Shut up.” I growled, pushing my blade a little more.
“Or what? Come on, do it. I deserve it, don’t I?” He pressed his throat against the pointy end, drawing a drop of blood. “Everything is my fault, right? I’m the cause of all your problems. I’m a murderer and a bastard. I’m just a villain and that’s all I’ll ever be.”
Yeah, all of that. But something in his delivery didn’t feel right. He looked way too eager.
“Fuck you, Lance. Don’t try to manipulate me if you have a death wish, if you want to kill yourself go ahead, be my guest, but you won’t use me to do your dirty work. No one is going to use me ever again.”
I made to get up, but he grabbed my hips, holding me in place. Pushing my hand with the dagger away, he raised up in a sitting position and grabbed my throat with his free hand.
“You’re so damn annoying. Never waste an opportunity when it presents itself, little aengel, you may not have another.”
His lips came crushing on mine, with anger and hunger, as if he wanted to devour me. I replied in the same way, not even surprised. We both knew this was coming. Every training session we were walking on a fine line, waiting for something, or someone, to snap it.
I dropped the dagger and raised my hands to his head, entwining my fingers in his long hair, pushing my hips even closer to his, feeling all of him against me.
It wasn’t sweet. There was nothing romantic in this. I hated him and he knew it, he probably hated me just as much. I needed this though, it was another battle, another fight, but I wasn’t going to let him get the better of me.
His right hand tightened his hold on my hip and raised up to my wait, my chest, and then lower again. I bit his lower lip, roughly, but he didn’t seem to mind, he took possess of my mouth again and again.
The moment I felt my control staring to slip, I jumped to my feet and put some distance between us.
“This… this has to stop.”
“Sure.” He replied nonchalantly, raising as well.
“It’s never going to happen again.”
“Of course. You say this all the time.” He added in his usual sarcastic tone.
“I’m serious. Enough.” I turned around and headed back to HQ.
“See you tonight. I’m going to leave the door of my room unlocked, as usual.”
I could feel the smirk in his tone. Gosh I hated him. I hated him as much as I craved him.
I stormed back to HQ, anger in each of my steps. In the back of my mind counting the minutes until sundown.
