canon policy

i have a flexible canon policy

the prequel and original trilogies are my main canon; tcw (2008) cartoon is only canon to me in broad strokes at best

everything else, i may compile from the legends or disney canons (1) if they support the characterization/themes/symbolism of the main canon, or (2) if it's interesting to me

the sequel trilogy (and everything post-rotj) isn't canon to me, but i may occasionally post about it (1) if it fits the themes/symbolism, (2) if the art is good, or (3) if it's funny

tldr: my main canon are the six g-lucas movies, everything else is only canon to me if i say it is

discourse policy

i am jedi-critical (you know you fucked up when you somehow manage to give space jesus* religious trauma) + pro-anidala** + i am paying for anakin skywalker's therapy and slugthrowing darth sidious the first chance i get. is that enough for you.

my stance on the disneysequels is that i don't object to the new characters or even some of the plot points as concepts, i just wish they didn't exist to disrespect the PT/OT core saga.

many people's persistent inability to accurately extrapolate padmé's internal narration during the movies is quite sad, really

it requires thinking about a fictional woman's interiority by actually listening to what she says and does, instead of projecting yourself or an 'ideal' onto her, as unfortunately even some padmé fans, in my experience, are wont to do

padmé is not a difficult character to grasp if you just think from her perspective for like. 10 seconds. without inserting yourself into the narrative.

in brief: ideal politician burnt out wants a family self-sacrificial to an alarming extent unconditionally loves anakin believes in his inherent goodness refuses to follow him to the dark side. are we done here or shall I continue ad nauseam?

Fandom needs more aspec headcannons that actually get explored

There seems to be a weird phenomenon in fandom where people give their aro/ace headcannon to an unimportant side character or the one person that they don’t have a ship for. Every other character is shipped with another person and there is just one single person in their story and that is the aspec character.

And that is shitty for a few reasons.

You cannot only make the “boring” or ”undesirable” people aro/ace. It feels incredibly weird. Those are typically the characters that get sidelined in fics as well. There are outgoing aspec people. With friends and in some cases they are in relationships as well. They aren’t all shy introverted people or science geeks with no desire for a social life. But you don’t see that in fandom.

The other problem is that it seems like you cannot imagine an allo person being single. Choosing to stay single. Like the only way someone could be happy like that is if they were “incapable” of love and had to settle for what you perceive to be a lesser form of happiness.

You also often see the aroace label, but rarely aroallo or alloace headcannons anywhere. The aroace label just gets used as a “this character doesn’t date and is therefore unimportant” box.

The aromanticism and asexuality rarely gets explored any further than “doesn’t date, cannot give relationship advice” (which both isn’t always the case either). People just slap the label on a character they hate and don’t do anything with it. It feels like they are checking a box. “I’ve added an ace headcannon so I can’t be called aphobic”

No, I don't hate the fact that Padmé is a "lawyer" or holds a "law degree"—it’s not because I dislike TCW or anything like that; I hate it because it is unconstitutional. Someone who values ​​democracy as much as she does would never put herself in that position.

I know I’m talking about an Earth-based concept and shouldn't mix real-world democratic principles with star wars — since it’s a Shakespearean tragedy and a space opera, and we don't really know how the separation of powers works there (there might be three branches, or four, five, or six, and we’d never know, given that no one in that franchise knows how to write politics)—but the main point is this: none of the three branches mix. The executive doesn't mix with the judiciary, the legislative doesn't mix with the executive, and so on.

The only secondary professions a lawyer, judge, or prosecutor can hold are teaching or writing, as these involve passing on knowledge. Aside from those two options, a lawyer, judge, prosecutor cannot have a second job.

Providing services to a government agency? There is a partial conflict of interest if they act for or against public entities; they cannot take on certain cases. Holding a public political office? That creates a temporary incompatibility, and the individual must even notify the bar association that they will be unable to practice law for a time.

And then there’s the issue of conflict of interest—Padmé shouldn't have been able to represent Ahsoka in that trial—but I won't go into further detail.

All this information and these perspectives are from MY country; things might be different in other countries.

Quest for Quasar Fans Don't Like Ottekvar

BALDERDASH, ADARLON – Although the entertainment industry is abuzz with the casting choice of Harlan Ottekvar for the role of Lord Baltharog in Myris Pictures' big budget Quest for Quasar adaptation, a small but vocal undercurrent of devoted fans have taken to the HoloNet to criticize the decision.

"According to the original sourcebook, Baltharog is 1.89 meters tall. Ottekvar is only 1.84 meters, maybe 1.86 in boots. Do they expect us to overlook this?" said Groz "QuasarKing327" Niclari on his public HoloNet infocache. Whenever I see his face, I think SuperKnight: The Awakening, or Webb Tenger: PeaceBuster, not Baltharog." Ottekvar himself is unphased by the outcry. "C'mon guys. It's only a holo," he said.
