I don’t even know where to start.
I’m so tired of the CW’s bullshit. So tired.
What is happening on Supergirl is disgusting. There’s no other way to put it. It reminds me of what happened with The Flop.
The CW always knew that Clexa was not going to be endgame. They always knew they would kill Lexa off. They did it to draw viewership. They did it to draw in people who are so desperate for representation they will watch anything and they found out that that method worked.
This is the exact same thing that is now happening on Supergirl. Now I know what you are thinking, they haven’t killed anyone, but haven’t they?
In season two they brought on Mon-El, Lena and Maggie and gave Alex a lesbian storyline. It was obvious, with Mon-El and Kara that something was going to happen there. There was always a promise of something more underlying all of their interactions, from the ‘forbidden love’ to the horrible way Mon-El treats Kara, it was always clear the CW was going to make them canon… While doing this, they were also sowing the seeds of Lena Luthor… A woman so so blatantly flirts with Kara, to the point of filling her entire office with flowers, it can’t be denied that isn’t platonic behavior. In Supercorp’s interactions, there is also a promise… That nothing is going to come of it.
I’ll come back to that point in a minute.
On top of that, they’ve given us Sanvers. Now, I know what you’re thinking. Sanvers isn’t baiting. They’re in a happy, loving, realistic relationship… But see, it is baiting. They’ve put them together, just to give Alex significantly less screentime than she had in the previous season, almost to the point where both her and Maggie barely show up unless it pertains to the other. They barely have a storyline. We no longer see them working or hanging out with friends, they are completely in their own little bubble.
This adds to the poor treatment of Kara, who they’ve completely isolated from everyone who isn’t Mon-El. From Winn and James, from J’onn, from Cat, from Alex, who she had previously had such a beautifully rich relationship with.
They’ve shifted focus from Kara completely. They throughout the entire last season and her relationship with James, which they worked so hard to build towards, just to put her with a manipulative white guy? That sucks.
Kara was so good with James, so if they were going to break up in favor of another love interest (which, why?) at least make it someone worthwhile… Like Lena. Which is so much more compelling and still has the themes of forbidden love… She’s a Luthor and Kara is a Super… How much more forbidden can you get?
So basically, what I’m saying is that The CW is so transparent. they’ve basically killed Kara’s character, have completely undermined the entire first season and purpose of this show. It’s disgusting and I quite frankly don’t know if I can tolerate it anymore.
