Tandyâs face turned a bright red at what Cessily purred, voice failing them for a few seconds. That was totally unfair. âCanât say youâre wrong about that,â they finally get out, ducking their head down as if the redhead was actually there. âHey, I am! I mean, you canât prove Iâm not, so there,â they teased back, laughing at how she hadnât fully corrupted them yet. The idea of Cess debasing them shouldnât excite them so much, but there they were, grinning at the thought. When she offered to blow up their group, a surge of affection hit their chest. âThatâd be a hell of a Christmas gift.â That did remind them of something theyâd been meaning to ask. âWhat do you want for Christmas, by the way? Itâs coming up, and all.â Their attempt to sound casual about it wasnât working out. They gave her a dramatic groan as they heard they couldnât hear what she was doing. âYou canât see it, but Iâm pouting right now.â It was probably better they didnât know, since theyâd just end up worrying more about her. Their eyebrows rose as they heard about meeting Cessilyâs captain. The fact she wanted them to meet someone important in her life warmed them. âYeahâŠYeah, Iâd want to do that.â They smiled at the thought. âIâm nervous now, though, youâve probably given her an expectation of me Iâm so not gonna live up to.âÂ
Cessily smirked as there was a pause after her words, rendering Tandy speechless was still rather easy for her but she loved it and found it a very endearing trait.  She hoped she wasnât too much of a corrupting influence that the beautiful blonde would lose that cute awkwardness completely.  âYouâre doing that adorable looking away thing arenât you?â She teased but her stomach was twisting horribly again, wishing she could see it.  âYouâre beautiful when you do that,â she added with far more sincerity.  The redhead laughed heartily at Tandyâs challenge.  It probably hadnât been said as a challenge at all but Cessiy took it was one, and she had a perfect reply.  âOh I wouldnât bet on that, gorgeous.  Remember Iâve seen your gleeful look as I open the bottom drawer of my bedside table.  Sweet innocent girls never look that excited by whatâs in there.â  She chuckled again at the thought of blowing up the people that were making her girl unhappy and found herself wondering if she could actually find a way of doing it.  âMmhmmm, Iâd tie a bow on the rocket and everything.â  She thought for a moment about Christmas and realised sheâd made no plans at all for it yet.  âAll I want is you,â she purred, âwearing nothing but a smile.  Or you can wrap yourself up if you want me to open you in a frenzy before playing with you and refusing to let you go.â  She would have to think of something she actually wanted for once, which would probably be harder than it sounded and of course she would shower Tandy with gifts.  Not because she needed to, because for once she wanted to.  âHeyyy, no pouting, pouting is unfair,â she whined.  She could never resist the pout so it was practically Tandyâs secret weapon, along with the wide eyes, or basically anything else her amazing girlfriend did.  âGreat!  Iâll make the arrangements!â  Cessilyâs tone was genuinely excited, she could finally show off a little of her job and share some private time with Tandy away from everyone else and everything that could distract them.  âI know Iâm not meant to be telling anyone about us but she forced me.  She is a high ranking official in a major spy organisation so Iâm trusting she can keep a secret.â  The silver girl chuckled softly again.  âJust turn up and be you, youâll amazing.  You always are.â
âSorry. This is why I usually stick to online shopping,â Cole muttered to himself, tightening his grip on a handful of shopping bags. It wasnât his intent, of course, to bump into anybody on his walk back toward his car, but annoyance was still lingering in him from his most recent gift-gathering excursion.
âDonât worry about it, itâs been happening all day,â Cessily replied with a groan as she lifted the big heavy bag that had been knocked back onto her shoulder and rearranged her other copiously filled bags between both hands. Â âThis is why people normally only get Amazon vouchers from me.â
A snort came from Tandy at Cessâ response to her remark. âMm, you probably should. I gotta say, though, Iâm already wrapped around her finger,â she joked back. She had missed the playful quips, despite only being deprived of them for a few days. It was a bit clingy of her, wasnât it? Her worry was appearing clingy to Cess, which was why she hadnât wanted to be the one to call first. She smiled softly at hearing the other had missed her, too. âMe? Causing trouble? You sure you got your facts straight, Kincaid?â she asked with a grin. âIâm just working with the most frustrating group ever from film class. Gotta make a short movie with them,â she groaned. âBut what about you? What activities have you gotten up to in the sky and saving the world?âÂ
Cessilyâs silver lips curled up on one side and she tried really hard to resist the sexual inuendo but she just couldnât do it.  âSounds like she knows just what to do with those fingers to have you so wrapped up,â she purred and then chuckled as she flung herself onto her bed.  Cessily released a snort of her own.  âOh yeah, I forgot you canât get into trouble coz you are just sooooo sweet and innocent,â she teased.  âGuess I havenât fully corrupted you yet.â  The silver girl felt her stomach twist and she suddenly wanted nothing more than to wrap her arms around Tandy and provide some sort of support, but she couldnât and she wasnât great at being supportive anyway.  âWant me to blow them up for you?  See if that gets you an extension and a new group?â  She was joking of course, she didnât have the authority to order a strike like that but it was a fun thought.  She sighed heavily and with an even heavier heart she spoke again.  âPretty much everything Iâve done can be summed up as âclassifiedâ but weâve been over a part of the world that doesnât seem to want to be saved so... yeah, fun.  But.  I have had a word with the captain and sheâs doing a test flight for a new âcarrier at some point with just a skeleton crew and she said you can come along so she can scrutinise you... I mean meet you, yeah, thatâs what she said.â  She chuckled playfully.  âIf you want to that is?â

General Notes:Â Aftermath prompt response.
Cessily normally enjoyed her hellicarrier postings. Â They were a chance to get away from the bustle of the city and throw herself into a new challenge but this time was different - she felt strange, in a way she couldnât describe. Â After her shift was over the silver girl headed straight to her room - pleased to see her bunk mate was out. Â She pushed her headphones into her ears and used the voice command of her phone to call Tandy, tapping her foot impatiently as it rang though it wasnât long before she heard the beautiful blondeâs voice. Â âHey gorgeous, guess who?â
It was a late, stressful night of studying with a group that Tandy didnât like in the slightest. They had added a new class to their schedule this year, a film class. There was already a project they needed to do by the end of the semester, and had to do in groups because there were only so many school cameras to go around. They couldnât decide on a genre, and kept arguing back and forth in the common room of Tandyâs dorm hall. One guy was putting up a shaky case for horror, when the blonde felt their phone buzz. âSorry, guys, gotta take this.â Any reason to get away from them was a good one. Leaving the room to the hallway, they answered it without glancing at who it was. âHello?â They were soon greeted with the sound of a certain someoneâs voice. âMm, is it an incredibly beautiful woman who Iâve been missing like crazy?âÂ
The sound of Tandy's voice made Cessily's heart skip and the feeling of strangeness she had been plagued with seemed to lessen. She couldn't explain it until she heard the blonde's words. Was the strange feeling what missing someone felt like? She had never experienced it before, definitely not to this extent anyway. "There's a beautiful woman who you've been missing? Who is she? I'll have to go round and tell her to keep away from my girl." It was an attempt at being her usual sassy self but it didn't feel right and she sighed heavily before speaking again softly and with far more sincerity. "I miss you too beautiful." The confession made her strange feeling ease even more. When she spoke again she was back to her playful self, "what trouble have you been causing in my absence?"
Her eyes widened as she watched Cessily, a grin forming on her face. âHey, pretty girl. Oh theyâve definitely got nothing on us! Where you been? Work keeping you extra busy?â She moved in to pull her into a hug and kept her arm snaked around her friendâs waist. âIâm here with a friend from work who just disappeared on me. Canât go wrong with half off drinks and the best guac in the East Village, am I right?âÂ
âYeah, they pretty much donât want me to have a life,â she replied with a roll of her silver eyes and she paused to take a large swig of her drink.  âAfter our little Doc and Marty adventure they kept me in an infirmary to runs tests and such to make sure I wasnât a spy and as soon as they were satisfied they sent me up in one of the âcarriers.â  She gave her friend a big squeeze and flashed her trademark smirk.  âBeen too long gorgeous, we should meet up and get wrecked sometime.  What ya been up to?â  Her own hand slid around Jubileeâs waist when she heard her friend had disappeared and the silver girl chuckled, âtheir loss is definitely my gain and half off drinks definitely works,â she raised her drink and chuckled again, âI only came in for one!â
Rain, that metallic engine/industrial smell, and a certain someone who shall remain nameless.
Soup:Â Comfort food?
Gotta be any kind of meat feast pizza!
Dragons:Â What makes you feel powerful, what breathes life into you?
Dragons again!? Â Making a difference as I said before, but also being with the certain someone mentioned above. Â They definitely breathe life into me.
Dragons:Â What makes you feel powerful, what breathes life into you?
Being useful and making a difference, whether itâs big or small, something at work or just helping a friend out when they need it both have the same effect.
Lace:Â Your favorite things to wear?
Nothing! Haha. Â Or a sexy little number that leaves enough to the imagination to still be interesting and compelling but shows off enough to kickstart that imagination.
Cessily normally enjoyed her hellicarrier postings. Â They were a chance to get away from the bustle of the city and throw herself into a new challenge but this time was different - she felt strange, in a way she couldn't describe. Â After her shift was over the silver girl headed straight to her room - pleased to see her bunk mate was out. Â She pushed her headphones into her ears and used the voice command of her phone to call Tandy, tapping her foot impatiently as it rang though it wasn't long before she heard the beautiful blondeâs voice. Â âHey gorgeous, guess who?â
Wanda was walking down the hallway of the S.H.I.E.l.D. base, going over a case file and listening to music on her iPod, lost in thought. Suddenly, CRASH!
She had bumped into someone, causing papers to go flying across the room. âIâm so sorry!â Wanda apologized. âI didnât see you there, I was distracted.â
Cessilyâs latest Hellicarrier tour had resulted in a rather lengthy report for her to submit. Â The large file was balanced precariously in one hand as she closed the department door and she didn't see Wanda coming. Â âHey watch where...â
Too late! Both the silver girl and the file went tumbling to the floor in a shower of paper. Â âAm I not big enough to see?â She snarled, just venting her frustration as the report had taken so long to prepare. Â With a shake of her head she started collecting up the papers and found one she didn't recognise. Â âThis yours?â
Happy Hour with Alana was exactly what Jubilee needed after the crazy week at work. The music from the house band wasnât half bad either. She stood against the wall, grooving to the tunes as she waited for her co-worker to come back with another round of beers. âArenât these guys good?â She yelled over the music to the person beside her.Â
Cessilyâs last Hellicarrier tour had been somewhat stressful and she had definitely been looking forward to an opportunity to let off some steam.  She had been in the bar since before Happy Hour but that had been all the incentive she needed to stay longer than she had planned.  Spotting a face she recognised she made her way over to the wall, hips swaying sexily as always and her newly filled drink swinging a little wildly from her hand.  âThey ain't bad,â she shouted back, a slight slur behind her words, âthey're nothing on us on karaoke night though, right gorgeous?â
Eva sat nervously on the bench where she had agreed to meet Cessily, her hands were wringing together and her leg was bouncing up and down - both outward signs of her fear of what she might soon discover. She had found a Shield badge with her brotherâs name on it displayed in her and Nadiaâs home, she could have googled what happened to him but she wanted to be sure and hear it direct from the source. She knew it was bad news and had done her best to prepare for the worst.
Cessily felt sick to the bottom of her stomach as she walked towards her meeting with Eva. Clutched in her shimmering silver hands was a S.H.I.E.L.D case file that she had removed from the archives, with permission of course. She had informed her supervisors of the memory problems and they had been very supportive over the whole month and when she had made this request on Evaâs behalf they agreed for the information to be shared, mainly because it had already been shared previously with the Australian. âHey Eva,â she said softly as she settled on the bench, it wasn't in her usual confident or sassy manner as she knew this was going to hurt. âYou ready for this?â
Eva felt her dread instantly rise within her as Cessily sat down. All her preparations and gearing up for the worst seemed to leave her and not for the first time she wondered if she was doing the right thing. âNot really, no,â she replied, her voice creaked alarmingly as she spoke and she gulped to try and get it back under control. âHow ummm, how bad is it?â Eva asked as she finally turned to look at her silver friend. Cessilyâs demeanour told her everything she needed to know and Eva realised she would never be truly ready for what she was about to hear. âI have to know,â she forced some confidence into her voice, âlet's do this.â
Hearing Eva struggle with her emotions just made Cessily feel even worse and she wondered what she would do had the positions been reversed. She was always envious of the hidden strength Eva was always able to draw on during tough times. The silver girl took a deep breath and her tone turned more official, it was the only way she would be able to get through this. âI'm guessing you've worked out this first thing,â she said as she lowered the file on her lap, revealing the front cover with âdeceasedâ stamped in red letters across the front. âIn short, Steven was an exemplary agent. He got excellent results in all trials and threw himself fully into his training. There was no task too small and no mission too great. He died in the field, following orders⊠His actions that day saved the lives of 83 people.â
Eva nodded solemnly as her eyes travelled over the file in Cessilyâs lap. She had already worked out that Steven was no more but seeing it confirmed made a lump rise in her throat and her eyes well up. As she listened to Cessily she simply couldn't hold in the emotions any more and she let herself cry. After sniffing loudly she found her voice again though it trembled but she didn't care. âHe-he never wanted to be a hero before, that was always my thing.â She wiped her eyes, suddenly glad she'd had the forethought to not wear any makeup. âDoâŠâ She choked and had to take a deep breath before continuing. âDo you know how?â
Cessily fidgeted awkwardly and spent a short moment watching the sun reflecting in the water before them, much like it reflected off her. She had known all along there would be no escaping what was to come and she respected Eva too much to lie or hide details. Her shiny silver fingers flicked through the casefile and she fished out the final mission report. âThere's errrr a final mission report logged by the team leader for that mission. It's got some details in it, and they claim full responsibility.â She moved to hand the report over but hesitated as her steel coloured eyes found the signature on the report - her signature - a shiver ran down her spine as she handed the document over and Cessily hoped she wasn't about to lose one of her oldest friends.
Eva took the report when it was handed to her and had to place it on her lap as her hands were shaking too much to be able to read it. From the way it was written she could tell how much respect the writer had for her brother but it also seemed like they knew him well, it was nice to know he was liked by his superiors and efforts were made - at least by this team leader - to get to know the people in their charge. Her eyes welled up and she let the tears stream down her cheeks as she read of her brotherâs last heroic act - freeing a group of mutants being held captive by The Crusaders. There were other casualties but Steven had been the only fatality and the leader of his team accepted all blame as they had been the one to give the order to enter the besieged building. Evaâs eyes drifted to the signature on the report wondering at first if it had been a Shield colleague she knew of. She felt like a stake made of ice had been stabbed through her heart when she saw the name and the warmth of the day disappeared as a cold shiver went over her entire body. âYou?â She said in disbelief. âYou did this!? It's your fault!â Evaâs grief and anger was starting to consume her and any thoughts that Cessily wouldn't remember the events were pushed aside. Eva got to her feet and pointed a shaking finger at the silver girl and she screamed, the pain she was feeling clear behind every word. âYou killed my brother!â
All Cessily could do was wait, she sat silent and still in the calm before the inevitable storm. Whatever Eva said or did she knew would be fully deserved yet she stood by her decision of honesty, hiding what had happened would have eaten her up the longer she left it. Having discovered what had happened, Cessily had gone to her superiors to ask about the events of that day. Given the extreme circumstances of their time misplacement she had been shown the security footage from that fateful day and had been assured by everyone that her actions had been executed perfectly and there was no way she could have foreseen what happened. It hadn't made her feel any better. âEva, I am so, so sorry,â she said quietly, knowing it wouldn't make any difference but she felt compelled to say something. âWhen we go back, if that situation ever comes up I swear I will stop it happening. I promise I'll do everything I can to change it.â Her silver eyes found Evaâs features full of anger and pain and she knew how distraught the Australian must be, and yet all she could say was, âI'm sorry.â
Eva didn't want to hear that Cessily was sorry or the promises that things will be different. She only wanted to hear her brother's voice one last time, to be held in his arms as he told her everything would be fine. She wanted to tell him about the baby she was carrying so he could tell her what a great parent she would be, if he told her that then she might just start believing it. Deep down she didn't blame Cessily but the silver girl was the only outlet available. Evaâs hand shot out and connected with a cold silver body, it wasn't a malicious hit and it certainly wasn't hard, she was just hurt and upset and wasn't sure what she was doing. âDon't you⊠Just⊠Shut up!â She shouted but then her anger was fully replaced by grief and she felt exhausted. Still sobbing she staggered forward and wrapped her arms around the taller silver girl. She needed a cuddle and didn't care who provided it.
Cessily wasn't normally a crier but this situation was certainly testing her emotional barriers. She blinked rapidly to try and stop the tears falling and made no attempt to stop or block the punch that came her way, she knew she deserved it, or rather her future self did and Eva wasn't prone to violent outbursts so she was just venting her anger and frustrations. The hug did come as a surprise but she took it in stride and her gleaming silver arms wrapped around the sobbing brunette. She was suddenly struck by how small Eva seemed, Cessily herself was rather talk and Nadia came close to competing in terms of height which caused the adorable image of the couple hugging like this all the time to float through her mind. Cessily rubbed her hands over Evaâs back, remaining silent to give her all the time she needed. She still had more to reveal but that could wait until Eva was ready.
Eva knew none of this was Cessilyâs fault, at least not this Cessily and she was grateful for the silent hug she received. The silver girl probably didn't understand how much of a comfort physical contact was for her. Cessilyâs body felt cold and the hand on her back was unusual - Nadia knew to stroke her hair - but she appreciated the gesture. Eva forced herself to take deep calming breaths, reminding herself that this future wasn't set and none of this was definite. âMâsorry,â she mumbled and pulled away from her friend, wiping her eyes. Eva then settled back on the bench and picked up the discarded file. âIs ummmm, is there anything else I should probably know?â
Cessily felt her stomach lurch at Evaâs question. Yes there was more she should probably know but was now really the best time to reveal it? Would there ever be a best time? âYeah, there is actually,â she replied after finally making her decision and she extended a shimmering silver hand to help Eva back to her feet. As the pair began to walk away from the river Cessily began to explain, âthere were a few details of his personal life too, I thought you might want to hear some happy stuff as well as the sad,â she really hoped what she had to say would be good news rather than bad. âHe was in a pretty stable relationship for over two and a half years and he was known to mention all the time how giving you away at your wedding was both the proudest and hardest thing heâs ever done. I have a picture here somewhere of him and the girlfriend at the wedding.â She guided Eva to turn slightly, heading towards a childrenâs play park.
Evaâs brows furrowed at the offered hand, she hadnât planned on going anywhere except home but it seemed like Cessily had something to show her. She took the hand and rose back to her feet, she clutched the file about her brother close to her chest as they walked, wanting it to be close to her at all times. She listened intently as her silver friend spoke, hanging on every word and she even managed a small smile. âThat would be nice actually.â She couldnât resist a giggle when Cessily mentioned him being in a stable relationship. âIâm pretty sure two and a half years is the longest he was ever with anyone. All the relationships I know of only lasted about two weeks.â Eva had no idea where they were going as they turned the corner so she let Cessily guide her and lead the way, she knew this part of town and couldnât think of anywhere relevant that they could be going either. âI ummm, actually havenât looked through the wedding album yet. Itâs weird, I didnât want to know who wasnât there just in case something bad had happened to them.â
âOh really?â Cessily was amused at the idea of Stevenâs relationships not lasting very long, it sounded like he was much like herself in that regard. She flashed a shimmering silver grin. âTwo weeks is a long time by my standards.â Cessily nodded and threw her vivid red hair over her shoulder, Evaâs statement made sense and the lack of knowledge of the wedding explained why certain questions hadn't been asked. It also meant she had more to reveal. âI've been avoiding digging into this future too much as well. Never know what horrors you may find.â As they approached the play area the sound of a young girl giggling and squealing was heard. Once they were closer they could see a small redhead girl and tall blonde man. The girl looked like she was trying to lift some kind of hammer and getting increasingly frustrated that she couldn't.
Despite how she was feeling, Eva managed a soft giggle. She didn't know of any partners that Cessily had had beyond the rumours that had been passed around the school and the occasional partner she had only met once at events, but that fact confirmed the redheads statement. Her brother was the same, always on the move. She was glad Cessily understood her apprehension at looking into details of the current future and she felt a pang on guilt at having made her silver friend go digging for details but she'd had no idea her brothers death would be linked to Cessily in any way. She saw the young girl in the play park and noticing her bright red hair she presumed this was the child Cessily had been complaining about since arriving in this time. She turned an inquisitive look at the taller girl. âYou're so high up in Shield you can get Avengers to babysit?â She asked having also recognised Thor. Cessily has certainly gone up in the world if that was the case.
âSomething like that,â Cessily replied with a smirk. In reality the Asgardian had volunteered to look after Hayleigh during some downtime but Cessily was happy to maintain the illusion of influence. She called out Hayleighâs name and felt her stomach drop again. She had no idea how this would go.
Hayleigh had heard Cessilyâs call and started running towards the two girls as fast as she could. She skidded to a halt just in time and wrapped her arms around Evaâs leg. âAunty Eva!â The young girl pulled away and tilted her head to the side as she looked up at the Australian. âMommy said you won't âmember me, and that you'll be sad that daddyâs gone and she said I should hug you and tell you I've been drawing lots like you told me to.â She smiled, genuinely happy to see her auntie.
Eva felt a cold shiver run down the length of her spine but she was also extremely confused, struggling to take in the information she had just been presented with. She dropped to her knees so she was the same height as the young girl that had just hugged her. Seeing the red hair, confident stance and the beginnings of a sly smirk made her sure this was Cessilyâs daughter. But the girlâs eyes. Eva had seen those eyes before, her entire life those eyes had watched over her, protected her, supported her. They were her brotherâs eyes. âOh my God,â she whispered in total shock and pulled the young redhead into a tight embrace. Her mind was racing but slowly the realisations of what she was seeing started to hit and she directed her attention back to Cessily. âYou've got⊠You and⊠She'sâŠâ Words failing her, she grasped for a conversation she could actually handle and turned back to the young girl - Hayleigh. âAnd what is it you've been drawing?â
Cessily wasn't a crier, she much prefered to hit things that upset her or hurl insults rather than show her emotions but seeing Evaâs shocked reaction made her eyes start to fill. She blinked rapidly to try and get rid of them and was pleased her voice was still under control as she spoke. âSorry to spring this on you, I really didn't know how to say it.â She fished into her bag and pulled out a couple of photographs. One was from Dee and Evaâs wedding and it showed both Steven and Cessily all dressed up for the occasion and looking very close. The second was Steven holding baby Hayleigh and grinning proudly. Cessily bent down and passed them to Eva.
Hayleigh chuckled in a very Cessily like way and began explaining her latest masterpieces. âWell I've been drawing the last scenes from all the Star Wars films like you said and I twied my own Yedi as well.â She had a proud look as she awaited Evaâs response.
Eva released the young girl from her hug and took the photographs from Cessily, gazing at them in wonder. She wanted to laugh, she wanted to cry, what she actually did was somewhere in the middle as a laugh-like sob escaped her. She smiled at the two photographs - her brother had never looked happier. âThank you,â she said to Cessily as she handed the pictures back and then her attention returned to Hayleigh. âWell I canât wait to see those, custom designed Jedi are always cooler than normal ones right? And as youâve been working so hard, I think you deserve ice cream.â She stood and ruffled the young girlâs hair a little, hoping it was a normal âauntyâ thing to do.
Hayleigh whooped with delight at the mention of ice cream and giggled when her hair was messed up. She took Evaâs hand and walked quietly beside the two older girls as they made their way towards the nearest ice cream vendor.
Cessily simply nodded at Evaâs thanks and returned the photographs to her bag, she didnât argue with the idea of ice cream despite knowing it would probably make Hayleigh more hyperactive and unruly but she had always believed aunts were around to be a bad influence and Eva was already excelling in her role. She scowled at Hayleigh when her daughter took Evaâs hand instead of hers but the scowl turned into a laugh when the young girl responded by sticking her tongue out at her. âItâs probably the biggest shock to come out of this whole weird future trip, right?â She said to Eva as they walked, âI sure never saw it coming and I bet you donât have anything that can top it.â She flashed a big silvery grin, she wasnât being competitive, just stating something she thought was fact.
Eva held Hayleighâs hand a little tighter than she normally would, clinging to the one piece of her brother that remained in this future. She giggled and shook her head as her silver friend said she couldnât beat her surprise. âActually I think I can beat it,â she replied softly as her free hand shifted to rest gently on her stomach. âIâm pregnant with Deeâs baby.â She couldnât stop the huge grin from splitting her face and the stumble and gaping mouthed look from Cessily told her she had indeed just won the non-existent competition. âWeâre gonna have our hands full in this future⊠Aunty Cessily.â

Cole arched a brow at the older redhead, âYou think so?â He wasnât sure how much he could argue, given how little he truly knew Cessily in their past and the little girlâs apparent aversion to her now. Without having a great deal of knowledge or insight into Cessily though, he also knew that some kids were just bratty, for whatever their reason. Enough of him was doubtful that this young girl fell into that category as she seemed genuinely happy at the prospect of doing things, and eager to turn the situation into a small game. âYour secretâs safe with me. And hey, I know that events are constantly taking place around New York City. If you want, and if Cessily is alright with it, maybe the two of you, and my kids and I can get together and go do something like catch one of the movies in the park, or check out one of the museums.â Not long after posing his suggestion, he began to think about what her relation to Cessily might be. His initial thought was that she might be her daughter; doubt descended and had him thinking she could be her younger sister due to the informal way the little girl addressed Cessily. But he finally took a guess aloud and went with his initial thought. âAlright. So is Cessily your mother?â
âIâm really not the parenting type,â Cessily replied with a shrug, âat least not currently.â
Hayleigh was once again bouncing with excitement, just at the prospect of being out and about with new people. Â âThat would be soooo good.â She turned to Cessily and started tugging on the silver girlâs arm. Â âCan we go? Can we? Can we? Can we?â Â When she got a nod of approval from the silver girl she squealed again with excitement. Â The young girl looked disappointed in his question and grumbled. Â ânâawww I was seeing how long she would keep guessing for.â Â She then nodded her answer and turned to face Cessily. Â âMommy, my name is Hayleigh.â
Cessily felt like a bucket of ice cold water had been thrown over her.  She had a daughter.  And judging by the likeness and similarities in personality a biological one.  She dropped to her knees so she was the same height as the younger girl.  âHailey, but spelled the Irish way, right?â  When the young girl nodded a huge silver grin spread across Cessilyâs face and she pulled her daughter in for a hug.  Looking up at Cole she said quietly, âI had no idea I could have children, with my body like this I mean.â  She released Hayleigh from the hug and opened her mouth to ask another question but was halted by a tiny finger on her lips.
ânuh uh, you guessed how my name is spelled, âs Coleâs turn,â Hayleigh said simply and returned her attention to him.
