“Sounds like our priorities are in sync, but that’s quite noble of you, saving me from bad coffee. That-- that’s just bad? There’s bad coffee, and there’s burnt coffee. You completely lost me, where is Watona Road?”

“Well in that case, i require some of your amazing coffee making abilities and i would’nt mind some chips either.”

“Russo’s. I hear the waitress there is pretty awesome, and makes a great cup of coffee. She also gives away free fries if she likes you. Maybe pie.”

“Well she sound’s like just the person I need to see. Point her out to me so i can butter her up? Unless she happens to be you?” Jane asked with a knowing look and offers a tentative, yet amused grin.

“Good point,” She acknowledged. “Arden. I’m Arden. You?” She laughed slightly, shaking her head. “No. My brother’s best friend’s dad owns the place. And my friend’s sister works there. And so does my other friend. And it’s a bit of a given that when you know Daniel Russo, you go to his diner. But… directions. Yes. It’s a few blocks away, and… I’m not the best with street names. I use GPS around here to this day.”

“Indeed.” she said nodding her head slightly. “I’m Jane, nice to meet you.” the girl said with a small smile. “Does your second cousin twice removed dog’s owner also work there?” Jane said  jokingly. “Sounds like you have quite the connections around here. A few vlocks this way or that way? Is this town even big enough to qualify using a GPS?”

“Well, no one has ever told me it was bad so…that’s good, right?”

“I’m very observant, I know. You’ve had a change to check out the town?”

“Is it something you pride yourself on? U’m no, i’ve been crammed upon masses of boxes in my apartment, all i’ve really seen is the welcome sign.”

“oh! wow that’s so generous of you! tha-that’d be lovely. i’m jane."

“LOU’S DINER. –just kidding, I just work there and want you to give me tips. Our coffee is actually kind of trash but anyways, Cabin Coffee is decent. It even has a cabin-y vibe, surprising right? Who woulda thought!”

“Here’s a tip, if you hadn’t told me your coffee sucked i totally would’ve believed you. I still might stop by sometime and see if it’s as bad as you say, probably to make myself feel better about my below average coffee brewing skills. Could you maybe point me in the right direction?”

“You’re right. Just, for the record…this isn’t normally what I talk about. I mean, I do like talking about weird shit, but I know not everyone’s comfortable with it. Oh, I won’t…got a bunch of lab gloves in my room. Huh, I might have to work some extra shifts if I want to buy a new one.”

“No, it’s okay,it was a legitimte question i suppose, plus i’ve been cooped up ll day, it’s nice to have a conversatio, no mater how odd. Lab gloves, what’re you doing with an abundance of lab gloves? Tell me this isn’t an often occurence in your life? Well scrap that, i’m sure this one’s fixable.”

“Sure do! You just go left up there, and then another left, and then a right, and then straight for a while, and then another left, and then the road curves around for a bit and if you take one last left it should be down that street a ways. I’m bad with street names.”

“Are you lousy with street names, or practical jokes? I don’t think this town is big enough for all of these directions, sounds  little more like a wild goose chase to me.” Jane said, an eyebrow raised in sheer amusement.

“You got some great deductive skills there, my friend. I don’t really want to gross you out or anything, but yes it’s pretty disgusting. Just having to touch and all…anyway, I really do need it to work, we’re nothing without phones nowadays right?”

“Thank you, i s’pose. It’s a little late for that, so no point i holding back now. , yes that sounds quite rancid. My advice, don’t touch it, with your bare heands. Maybe even think of getting a new one. Ah, you have a point there. Try the rice, maybe some wishful thinking.”

“Understandable. I mean that’s the thing about tea – none of it’s the same. So it’s hard to find one to really enjoy – but with coffee, we call can expect the same thing. Yeah, she’s from a small town called Ripponden, and had been there all her life till she met my father.  It’s not a bad city once you start exploring. There’s a lot of things to see here, it’s quite an interesting place. I mean, that’s just my opinion because I’ve lived here since I was five. But hey, the welcome sign is a start.”

“Isn’t that the truth. I feel like we owe coffee some credit, it can be served in a multitude of different ways. Ripponden? That’s west Yorkshire I believe? Lovely little place. I’m used to quaint, i spent the last ten years out on the English countryside with my nan. It seems like an interesting place, quaint, quiet, but tell me how’s the night life?” Jane asked with a double meaning. “That’s quite some time, you must know it like the back of your hand, although i don’t think it would be to difficult to have fully navigated in a few months.”

“Alright, come close. Don’t tell anyone I told you this - it didn’t come from me. Go to Lou’s Diner. Best coffee in town. I’ve been addicted for years. Russo’s doesn’t come near it. I know, might as well call me a traitor, but it’s the cold hard truth.”

Jane tentatively neared the girl not sure what to expect. “Not sure I could identify you either way, i don’t quite know your name. But, Lou’s diner, got it could you maybe show m how to get there? Unless that defeats the point of your discression. I’m assuming you’re employed at Russo’s?”

“I don’t mean to brag but I sure do make a great cup of coffee. So personally I am biased. But I guess that French cafe is alright.”

“You just moved to this town?”

“Have you ever had someone else test that theory? Well, alright will have to do because I might not make it without it. Usually i brew my own, not so great, coffee, but i haven’t dug my coffee pot out yet.”

“Good deduction, but yes.”

”So…I just dropped my phone in the toilet. Good thing there was no number 2. Do you know if the rice trick actually helps with this thing?”

“Are you implying that there was urine in the toilet? Because that’s mildly disgusting, but yes, i believe the rice trick will still work.”
