I just watched that one Perry Mason episode where Illya Kuryakin goes undercover as a cute, nerdy, naive French bookseller and ends up needing Perry to be his defense attorney because he was silly enough to listen to some attractive, supposedly-helpless woman’s sob story. Probably not a coincidence that Illya’s considerably more jaded when season 1 of TMFU picks up a year later.

(If you know what I’m talking about, you have good taste in early-mid 60s TV 😉)

Although I’m still going to give a shout-out to @elementaluncleagent’s post about getting hold of DVDs (in North America) because what this has proved is that digital stuff is not always reliable. Appreciate the help, though, this will be great!!

PSA regarding the sudden loss of TMFU from the Internet Archive:

If you’re in North America, you should be able to watch TMFU by requesting the DVDs through your local library. (I don’t know what the situation is in other parts of the world, but probably still worth asking your librarian about it). If your local branch doesn’t have TMFU, that shouldn’t be a problem - talk to your librarian because they SHOULD be able to help you request the DVDs from a different library (through a service like interlibrary loan or a regional consortium; the latter should be totally free, the former may involve a nominal fee to cover shipping costs). And if you don’t have a DVD player or don’t have a disc drive in your computer? No problem! Ask if your library loans external optical drives or DVD players - many of them DO loan these devices (Have I mentioned lately that I love libraries???)

Unfortunately I must be the bearer of bad news in that The Man From U.N.C.L.E is no longer on the Internet Archive!!! Went to watch an episode only to be smacked with that message and it was gutting because I always thought the Internet Archive was so that wouldn't happen but. I was wrong. Just figured you ought to know if that's where you usually watch it.

(This is why I like having physical fucking media though like give me affordable DVDs in my region any time, then I don't have to rely on internet connections or the whims of websites -_-)

I hate this especially because it’s so much easier to extract clips when you can download episodes from Internet Archive. (I wonder what happened? Presumably a copyright issue).

I’m not into real person fic, but part of me really wants to believe in an alternate reality where David McCallum and Robert Vaughn have a torrid love affair during the filming of TMFU as a result of (1) David trying to process the trauma of his wife leaving him for Charles Bronson, and (2) Bob just being Bob.

(And no, I will never write that fic. Never. Uh uh. But…maybe…).
