I had some free time on my hands so I made this go board and stones. Now the kids are all about that. Success!
I find it awfully cute that kids think adults make babies by getting married.
Twirl
So the next kid I want to tell you guys about is Twirl.
The first thing I should say about Twirl is that she is simply cool. The second none is that she is amazingly sane.
Being the friend of two drama queens and an energy bomb I haven't figured out yet, Twirl is somehow the voice of reasons.
Before this Holliday started, she approached me saying that she knows very well she should take her revenge on me, but she can't remember why...
Sanity, like everything else in the universe, is relative.
This is perfect
Diffrent culture, diffrent stories.
So the kids will be back at school on Sunday, which is when I was hoping to start teaching them about mythologies of different cultures - until I encunterd a problem.
How do I tell kids who live in a society where nudity and such is taboo stories that have nudity and such in them? So many myths and legends have something sexual ( and stuff that are actually not sexual at all ) in them. Kids were told these stories for generations all around the world, and I honestly don’t think that there’s any reason why my kids shouldn’t hear them, but I’m not sure how to approach this thing.
Any ideas?

Many of the girls at school are playing Dress-up games. They have coloring books, showing figures of horribly unrealistic girls. Since yesterday I heard three perfectly healthy 7-11 y/o girls discussing each other need of a diet. (needles to say, each of them saying she is the "fattest ugliest one")
I think this is horrible, and I came up with and idea -
let's create a dress up game showing all sorts of realistic woman. Girls (and boys, maybe? ) of many sizes, body types, skin, hair , eye color, height - whatever, so little girls (and boys) won't learn to hate their bodies.

So for the new (Jewish) year the school created an in-school mail system for kids to send card and such for each other. I got nine "happy new year" cards, one paper crane and two threat letters.
Canonnball
Since I obviously won't write any of the kids (or any other person involved) real names, I think nicknames will do.
The first is Canonnball. Honestly, it's just the first thing that came to my head. Canonnball is kinda cute, very loud, and today she invented the hand-grande all by herself! I learned that when she came to me, looking all proud with a thing in her hand saying:
"Look, I made a bomb!"
"It looks like a random lego thing, so you'll have to explain yourself"
Then she shakes it a little, and I can hear there are things inside
" It's full of round beads, so if you throw it it'll brake and the bead will explode all over the place " :D
She then proceed to showing me how it's done. ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE.
It's been less then a week since school started
and I already find myself with an urge to write about the (fucking crazy shit) that's going on.
Basically, I'ts a democratic school (which is an education system that's basically about letting kids have their freedom, because everything involves learning of some sort and kids will want to study if we won't make them hate the idea since they're six)
My job is to be an adult. The kids know they can always come to me, I talk to them and join them in the activities they create for themselves - since they don't consider me the kind of adult they should keep secrets from I get a very rare and interesting view on them.
Plus, sometimes I just need to tell people about the crazy shit. There's so much cray shit...
