“My party?” Rico shook his head. “No no no. It’s,” he pointed between them, “ours. You get just as much say as I do, Paige. Besides, I’m awful at planning without some kind of rubric or, like, a lengthy syllabus. Do you think they make party guides? Like, you know, study guides for…” Rico trailed off into a laugh. Of course she knew what he meant. “Sorry. Let’s start off with just us and see how it goes first.” Rico stood and extended his hand. “C’mon. Let’s get drunk.” 

"It's a good thing I'm your right hand man." She gave a wide grin at his ramblings and took his hand. "I'll get you a party guide with a syllabus, and entire grading breakdown in it, for your birthday." Pulling herself up to stand Paige straightens up her clothes. Quickly looping her camera around her neck, determined not to go anywhere without it, the girl nods. "Let's get drunk."

he shrugged. “i dunno. maybe. whatever happens will happen, i guess.” he didn’t remember it much. besides, he didn’t really know what he wanted to do with his life yet. squirt just knew he wanted to be on a beach. whether it was here or california, he didn’t really have that much of a preference. it’s just what he was used to and what he loved waking up to. “i like living on the beach though. i know that’s where i wanna live.” he knew that much. he smiled at the other. “i get it, trust me.” the water was practically a second home to him, he’s been around it for so long. “would you stay here or would you go?”

"Thats a good way to think. After all, anything could happen. Anything coud mean you move across the world, or live on a boat, or tavel to the moon." She had a playful smile across her lips as the words escaped her. "Me too. I couldn't be anywhere without one, thats for sure." Instead of touching anymore photographs, the girl laced her fingers together, her arms resting at her sides. "I like it here, but I think I want something further down the coast. A few roads over. You know? Where its a little quieter and you can just hear the waves all the time."

she didn’t know to trust him or not. if anything, it sounded too good to be true. “miss hannigan’s was supposed to be good too and look what happened there.” that place that she tried to escape so many times, her own personal hell was what she called it now. how did she know it wouldn’t turn it into that? “i can’t let that happen to anyone else.” especially if there was something she could do about it. maybe annie needed to see it alone, give a surprise visit instead of a planned one so she could see what actually happened instead of a front they may put up. “sure, i’ll check it out.” she couldn’t promise she was going to tell her father anything or tell him to give him a few minutes. but she could at least give him a chance to impress her.

"Miss Hannigan was cruel. This is a place built by orphans for orphans. And is completely optional might I add. Don't wanna be there? You don't have to. But we teach book smarts, street smarts, theres 3 hot meals a day. It isn't bad crack." His rougher accent was slipping into his words as he spoke. "Look, you don't have to believe me, right? I'm what everyone calls a street rat. But if you wanna see for yourself, I can take you there." He pulls the jacket a little tighter over his shoulders, a hand slipping so casually into the pocket and retriving a cigarette, held carefully between thumb and forefinger. "Do you wanna go now, Annie?"

“I honestly just don’t get why in the world would we decide to spend a night together. I mean I’d understand if we accidentaly made out with a stranger and then things took the wrong turn but… fuck, we’ve been friends for the longest time now and I’d never expect us to… you know…” The blonde sighed deeply. Emily didn’t recall ever thinking about Levi in that way but there had to be some sort of an attraction since the two ended up in the same bed.

"Something must have fucked with our heads. I don't know what we were drinking but whatever it was, it was strong." The boy could still feel the horrible taste on his tongue and coating his teeth. "I mean, do you even remember anything? Because I don't remember a thing. So it's fine, right? We don't remember it, nothing happened." Surely he would have some memory of something so significant, alcohol black-out or not.

He knew he came off as a guy who was calm and collected, however the moment he figured out that Paige went missing, he began to freak out (behind closed doors, at least). He let it be, as he was aware of her grandfather’s situation. He just assumed the best and went along with his life. He knew how to hide the fear, the stress, the worry all too well. It was just how he was - he was a master of disguise.

He knew everything about Paige. From her favorite color, to her whole life story, even what her shoe size was. They learned so much about each other in the years that they had known each other and were together as a couple that he had no questions. It was either he knew, or they’d learn something new about each other. It was quite the catch, if you ask him. “You’re fine…” he spoke softly, rubbing her back as he attempted to calm the woman down. “I’m just happy I know what happened.” He added moments later, wondering when or if there was a good time to let go of their embrace. After a moment, he let go, though not letting their bodies go too far away from one another. “It was impulse, and I know that feeling all too well.” Elijah admitted, a weak smile coming across pink lips.

She thought about him all the time while she was gone, constantly pushing him out of the corner of her mind. As his name loomed, so did that sense of guilt and despite knowing she must have left him confused (and maybe a little heartbroken, even though he would never admit it) she didn't regret her choice while she was away.

The familiarity of it all made her heart ache for the past, slowly breaking in her chest for her grandfather, but slowly mending itself again because the couple were somewhat reunited. She could probably paint him with her eyes closed, look into his eyes and know exactly what he was thinking, it was homely to be in his arms, despite it all. The last thing Paige wanted was for him to pull away, so as he did she caught his hand in her own. "A bad impulse. I shouldn't have left." The girl could barely look in his eyes, her own plastered to the floor as she spoke. "Elijah... it won't happen again." This is her version of take me back

“ you have such high expectations for me. ” toby couldn’t help but joke a little, pulling a hand back through slightly outgrown hair as a subconscious reminder that all this stuff - the normal domestic living and routine - was something that he needed to get a better grip on organising for himself. both with cooking and remembering to book things as simple as his own hair appointments. “ i don’t know. ” his expression scrunched slightly at wren’s questioning of the movie, brown eyes shifting from the screen to the girl now sat on his couch before returning once more. “ the characters said so and guess i’m going along with it. don’t want to question how much they know about the devil. ” half-hearted joking fell lightly from his lips. sure, the film would finish and he wouldn’t give it a second thought, but undeniably his grip on his own handful of popcorn did tighten a little each time the light’s in the elevator on screen began to flicker. 

"I'm gonna make you a list of recipes, we'll start a cooking class." She was only half joking, a wide smile pushing at her cheeks. Watching him instead of the screen for a minute she shrugged "if you want a hair cut I know a good place round the corner too. Or I can do it. But you've just met me so thats really up to you." She had a strange mix of skills but as she learnt to help around the house, especially with her siblings she learnt from her mother, everything she needed to know for them to function day to day, the easier way. "Hm, I think it'll be like a Hollywood tower of terror thing, y'know? Like some ghost haunts the elevator and thats whats going on." But after that she stayed silent, placing pieces of popcorn in her mouth, jumping just slightly at a loud bang sounding from the tv, hoping that the other didn't notice too much.

“how would you help?” that was her biggest question. if he wanted to get to her dad through her, she wasn’t going to make it easy. he needed to prove he was serious and his plan could work. “i’m not an orphan anymore.” she had a father and a stepmother that loved her. but her dad was, he was alone until annie came for christmas. but he didn’t need to know that. “of course i do. but how do i know it’ll work or change anything?” she was in that system and it seemed like every time someone tried to “help,” it just made miss hannigan act like the perfect mother for the hour the people were there. it didn’t change anything.

"I've got a safe haven. A place away from drab streets, grim orphanages, I hated my life in those houses, but I found my place in this group of people. They're more like a family. One that treats you right." He was selling it the best that he could, although this was technically more of a gang. He was a trickster, a man of words, if anyone could convince this man and his daughter, it would be Flynn. "We offer a room of their own, a family of people just like them, me, you. A job once you reach sixteen and home comforts you wouldn't even imagine at Miss Hannigan's. You can come and see for yourself. I'm a product of our system, a runaway from the traditional orphanage and made in our family. I can tell ya' I'm alot happier than I ever would have been if I'd have stayed."

“A party?” He sat up at Paige’s suggestion. The last time Rico had attended a party was way back in October. He’d been a pity invite, dragged by his ex-crush of all people. (She had persuaded him to dress up as a magician so she could be his sexy bunny assistant.) He ended up losing an entire deck of cards and catching his rainbow scarf on fire. Oh, and he never got the vomit smell out of his top hat either. So Rico’s party experiences could only go up from here. “Who are we inviting? Or is it just gonna be a party of two?” 

"Of course a party." She wouldn't call herself a party animal, if anything the girl was often found behind her camera at parties, but still enjoying it all with a drink in her hand. Music still gave her a buzz and the alcohol would still make her head spin, she wasn't the center of attention but couldn't deny she enjoyed those nights. Twirling a small piece of hair around her finger Paige grinned. "Well, thats up to you. It's your party. Either way you've got a distraction."

it was the one photo his dad really put on display with his mother in it. but at least it was a cute photo and a happy memory. he shrugged. “i don’t really remember it much. we moved when i was four or five.” all squirt really knew was australia. “i still live on the beach with dad, work in the surf shop and everything. i don’t think dad would want it any other way.” his parents were professional surfers. and for his dad, surfing was his life. where else would he want to live other than on a beach somewhere with his son?

"Do you think you would go back?" The thought was materalising like a day dream in Alice's head, the place she'd seen so many photos of but never attempted to go to. "I wish I lived a little closer to the beach, it only takes me ten minutes to get there but sometimes thats just too long, you know?" His dad was a swimming coach for a while but had never expected Alice, and her brother Levi, to become as drawn to the water as they did. Now it was hard to keep the girl away, almost every spare moment was spent at the coast.

“42, huh?” She smiled and slipped the other girl’s hand into her own, gently tugging her out the bedroom door to head outside. “If I don’t see all of them, I am going to get very upset.” Scarlett teased, giving Wren a smile over her shoulder to let her know that she was not being serious. “Don’t the zodiacs have ones too?”

Wren gasped as she was pulled outside but gave a small giggle as she did. "It might be hard to see every one but we can, of course, try." Wren wiggled her eyebrows, joking back with the other girl. Yeah each zodiac will have its own constellation, what star sign are you?"

“Don’t be stupid,” Scarlett repeated his own words back to him, rolling her eyes as she leaned back in her seat and looked over at him. “I know you don’t like me,” She argued with his logic, “In fact, I know that you’re fairly annoyed by me. You looked like you’d rather die then watch me try on dresses.” She knew that wasn’t completely due to her personality, but still wanted to take the chance to tear his logic apart. 

Looking at him, she paused and acknowledged how different they were. Her long, blonde hair a contrast to his darker locks. Both of their overall color palettes contrasting, his darker mood to her fluffier one. Scarlett smiled gently without even realizing it. Flynn was different then the rich boys she went to school with. Without knowing, she was intoxicated with how different he was. With how his life compared to her own. 

“Doesn’t matter anyway,” She frowned gently, “My father would rather I kill somebody then lose my virginity."

"I like you." He shrugged, "you don't piss me off as much as I thought you would. I like you." They were edging closer to her home as Flynn drove round the dark street corners. "But who wants to sit in a dressing room for an hour?" It probably wasn't a secret that he had nothing better to do, and honestly he didn't find himself minding as much as he made out.

He felt her gaze but never turned his head, or glanced out of the corner of his eye. The boy wondered what she was thinking and whether if it was about him as a person, or the secrets he kept hidden, with the dark truths about his past. They would always be opposites, no matter how hard they tried to seem the same, his upbringing and less than wealthy lifestyle would always show.

"You're a virgin?" There was slight questioning in his voice, maybe a little shock that he was trying to hide.

This was the tricky part, because of course there was a chance that they all knew her real name–but everything about her had been kept secret so she had no way of knowing for sure. Instead, she played it safe and simply went by the name she went by among the people that knew her best. “Blue, my name is Blue.” She didn’t bother correcting being called a kid, her eyes not leaving his as a means of standing her ground.

He was curious, but still unsure, keeping a guard up as he always did. With one step closer to the girl, his eyes running her up and down once more, he shrugged. "Blue. I'm Flynn. I suppose you can stick with me, but I gotta check with the higher ups later on, I haven't seen your name anywhere." With one quick ghost of a smile he carried on the interogation. "Why ya' here?" There were plenty of reasons a person would join a gang, but, again, she wasn't the stereotypical type.

In his closed off, dark structure that hid under a professional, ‘okay’ attitude, there was never a moment that passed when his mind didn’t worry about Paige. It seemed like this happened a lot, people coming and going from his life… mostly for the money he had gained throughout his life. Though he knew that Paige was different. He knew that she cared about him as a person, not someone who would give her the life and luxury of a millionaire’s wife. It was just nice to know that she was safe, even though the circumstances were shitty.

There was really no expecting the deaths of his parents. His father was shot dead, all due to the wealth, and his mother had killed herself through an overdose. There were no comforts, no simple gestures. There was barely a funeral. His family came and celebrated the life, though Elijah had no choice but to fake it. He was the one that found his mother, he was the one that got the call from the hospital about his father… it was too much to handle as a 22 year old. Elijah watched as Paige shivered, and embraced her in a tight hug when she came forward. He wrapped his tattooed arms around her damp body, kissing the top of her head. “Don’t be sorry. I’m just glad you’re okay.” He replied quietly, letting the embrace comfort her and maybe himself as best as he could.

Her hands balled into tight fists, feeling like she was pushing all of her anger into the center of her hands. She didn't like others to worry about her, she was free, usually happy, and of course this meant that she would always be okay. But Paige also knew that when you had a certain connection with a person, of course you would constantly keep them on your mind.

The girl knew everything about him, what he'd been through, and she couldn't deny all off it running through her head, as well as the few hours she had seen today. The hug was everything she needed, the comfort that she hadn't seemed to recieve from her parents, the return to something safe (that she had tried to run from for so long). Even with his words the guilt still seemed to sweep through her mind. "I'm... I'm just so sorry. I shouldn't have left. I shouldn't have left you." The words are spilling out in a stream of thoughts, almost as uncontrolled as her tears. She refused to let go although it didn't seem like he wanted her to.
