Midtown High was not exactly the place that Peter preferred to spend the majority of his time, but hey, it was home. He had plenty of things to keep him busy, like the academic team and- Well, that’s pretty much it for school. He wasn’t a popular kid, nor did he take up any sports because he was never the most athletic guy; that was until he got superpowers. The problem with that is no one could know that he had those powers, so he still had to pretend to be the weakling that everyone saw him as. Peter didn’t mind this, because he was a person that kept to himself unless he was wearing his suit. He had all of the friends that he needed, even if he could count them on one hand.
Although he hadn’t developed friendships with many, he was still aware of all of the faces at his school. He could probably name each one, and it wasn’t because he stalked them, just that he always payed close attention to everything. This held true until he stopped at his locker one morning and caught sight of an unfamiliar face at the end of the hall. Her blonde hair stood out, and he wasn’t trying to be a creep and stare at her, but he couldn’t seem to look away. She was definitely a new student, or so he thought, and he wanted to make sure that she had at least one friendly face to welcome her. He knew more than anyone how dreadful the town could be, and he wanted to make the experience better for others if he could help it.
This didn’t come without doubt, though, because he didn’t know if she would even talk to him. Most people, especially girls, just turned the other way and pretended like he didn’t exist. Peter was never one to give in to fear, so he decided to give it a go anyway. He normally waited for Ned to show up at his locker, but on that particular day, he had something else that was higher priority.
With a book tucked underneath one arm and his backpack slung over his opposite shoulder, he made his way down the hall to where the girl stood. He tried to wear a smile, but he didn’t want to come off too strong, so he settled for his signature grin, which unfortunately made him look like he had no lips.
He approached her carefully, not wanting to freak her out. It wouldn’t be the first time that had happened, so he had to pay extra attention. He cleared his throat, hoping to capture her attention.
His voice was quiet, but far from a whisper. The last thing he wanted to do was spook her.
