the initial, eager puppy excitement wilted as if it had been frozen. a gush of harsh, blistering wind, knocking all of the peppy colored petals to float to the floor. she stands there, doe eyed and something like shock ringing through her. she didn’t know what to do without crying, so she stood there instead. annoying. unbearably. she remembers the feeling now, how lovely it had felt to see elena, how she’d rushed forward full of exclamation. stupid, stupid, stupid. her eyes fall to the floor, guilt rushing through her. “ i’m- i’m sorry, i didn’t mean to. it’s not- it’s not an act. ” she looks up at elena, trying to remember the tenderness of memory. “ do you really think that? ”

the compassionate softness that would typically unfurl in response to the sight of allie's upset is completely absent, hollowness ringing clear in its place. her expression remains flat as she watches the other wilt, feeling no guilt, but no satisfaction either. she just . . . feels nothing, even when witnessing such potent emotion right before her ⸻ it's as if she's already completely forgotten. a part of her is missing, isn't it? and she doesn't know who she is anymore, without it. but she doesn't let up, effortlessly lashing out once again. ❛ so you can't help being a sickly sweet airhead? that might be worse than it just being an act, actually. ❜ her lower lip pushes out in a pout, brows pulling together in faux concern. ❛ aww, do you want me to say syke and that i was kidding to protect your feelings? how stupidly delusional. ❜
