Every morning, Angelica patiently waited by the door, hoping to receive her acceptance letter from U.A. in the mail. She refused to eat her breakfast or do anything until she knew for definite that this day would not be the day.
Still, she had hope.
See, Angelica could hypothetically waltz into U.A. and use her quirk to persuade the principal to accept her into U.A., but everything about that idea was villainous behavior, and that would never cross her mind.
For now, all she could do was have patience, hope, and trust in her abilities. Hopefully, the teachers at U.A. would see that she makes an amazing addition to the school and accept her with open arms, but there was still that chance that maybe Angelica isn't as amazing as everyone says she is.
As Angelica lies on her bed, staring at the ceiling, her thoughts gnaw at her brain, embedding seeds of doubt into everything she has ever believed. What if she wasn't hero-like? What if her quirk was not good enough?
All her life, Angelica had heard both spectrums of opinions on who she is and who she will become. Villain or hero.
"I need some fresh air," she sighed before getting up, grabbing Katsu in one arm, and rushing down to escape her suffocating mind.
⋆˚࿔
Angelica never imagined that the boy she met a few days ago would be standing right in front of her today. Exactly like the first time they met, an unamused expression masked Bakugo's features as his fiery eyes met hers.
Just a few steps away, Katsu circled around him, rubbing against his legs whilst purring. A soft smile blossomed across her face, watching her usually reserved cat take a liking to this boy she'd only met once. A very different reaction to him than at the end of their exchange yesterday afternoon.
Angelica still didn't know the name of this spikey-haired blond or why he had so much annoyance radiating off of him at eight in the morning.
She took a lock of her hair and twirled it silently before finally reclaiming her cat into her arms, just like she did yesterday after Katsu sneakily escaped out of the back door. Her fingers grazed Bakugo's leg as she did so, further deepening the creases in his forehead.
"Funny seeing you here, again." Angelica gave him a warm smile, trying to be as nice as possible to someone who had no intention of returning the favour, the frown on his face proving her suspicions. It would take a lot of time to crack this egg.
"Yeah."
His words were short and snappy, reflecting his intense reluctance to interact with her. He didn't know this girl; he had seen her once before, and she was of no use to him. However, he wasn't going to act like a dick towards a random girl, who he'll most likely never see again after today, other than a brief encounter.
Angelica cleared her throat, suffocating tension in the air, tension that was unnecessary, like her thoughts earlier, since they barely knew one another. Her hand cupped Katsu's small head as she scratched repeatedly and calmly, feeling a sense of comfort in the sound of him purring in satisfaction.
Without another word, Bakugo swiftly charged past Angelica and made his way to school, going back to his original schedule for the day. That did not involve a girl named Angelica, even though he had no idea what her name was, even now.
"Well, that went great!" She exclaimed sarcastically to no one, letting out a long sigh before making her way back into her empty house.
Her days were bland since she moved here and was in the process of moving schools; she had nothing to do all day, and her parents worked day and night. All she had to entertain her was her cat, Katsu, who was getting needier by the day, constantly begging for affection since he secretly knew Angelica had nothing better to do.
Her body dropped onto the couch, a small frown forming on her face, which was rare for Angelica. She replayed what had just happened, feeling a little confused.
She snatched her laptop off the coffee table and clacked on the keyboard, each press of a button more aggressive than the last.
One thing she didn't realize before analyzing her interaction with the random boy was the U.A. uniform he wore.
GOOGLE Spikey haired blond U.A. Student
An article about a boy named Katsuki Bakugo opened up, a picture of the same boy she saw the past two days, stood on a stage. Wearing a muzzle. Chained to the floor. Maybe she misjudged, but this did not seem like the 'slightly calmer' blond she encountered yesterday.
"What the.." she whispered to herself in bemusement, continuing to read article after article. Surely, surely he wasn't this bad? She wondered if her impressions of the reserved boy were entirely wrong, and he was indeed a horrible person, why else would he be chained up by the teachers at U.A?
After a few minutes, Angelica decided she'd had enough of scrolling through what could be false information, and clicked off the articles. She slumped, feeling even more confused than before because of what she had just read, fiddling with her golden braid.
An image of Bakugo's scowling face appeared in her head, and she grabbed a nearby pillow and cuddled close to it, earning a side eye from Katsu, who had been pestering her since she grabbed the laptop.
He had a peculiar way of acting around others, quite defensive for someone who barely knew her.
His short and snappy replies, aloof disposition, and abrasive distance. The article started to make a bit more sense, but certainly not to that extent. Angelica had no idea what the teachers were thinking when publicly shaming him like that; he must remember it often.
Another article that she had noticed from the corner of her eye when scrolling talked about someone getting captured by a monster.
Angelica itched to grab her laptop and investigate further, trying to find more information on this mysterious blond. She didn't know why she was so intrigued, maybe because she could feel that he needed someone there for him. He would never admit he needs that, though.
A person like that would never ever show when they're hurting. They were more alike than Angelica thought, not complete polar opposites, it seems.
She threw herself back and let out an exasperated sigh, letting herself dive deep into theories about Katsuki Bakugo. A boy who showed no interest in her, but she found interest in him.

a/n: this is for my very good friend that i met on wp years ago, love you girl ♡ the project idea is kinda shit but i couldn't think of anything else :,)
NOW PLAYING . . . BASICS — TWICE !
Eijiro Kirishima was going about his day, walking down the U.A corridor with his hands in his pockets, a bounce in his step. A smile was plastered on his face as he thought about how well he'd done in training that day, proud of his growth.
The sound of his footsteps echoed in the empty hallway until there was a loud crash that came from the door he stood next to.
"Shit!" An exasperated curse ripped through the silence, and crashes and bangs made Kirishima worry even more than he already did. What the hell was going on in there?
He stole a glance through the tiny window of the door, seeing a girl, you, splayed out on the floor with clutter surrounding your body. Your hair covered your face as you let out a thread of curses quietly to yourself.
Before Kirishima knew it, his body moved before his mind as he charged into the room, heading straight towards you. A hand went out as he tried to help you out.
"Hey, you alright?" A crease in his forehead formed, his tone laced with concern after hearing all of the ruckus in the room.
You grabbed his hand tightly, pulling yourself up off the ground and dusting yourself off. A nervous chuckle left your mouth, and your eyes met Kirishima's.
"Thanks, I'm totally fine, this happens a lot," you rubbed the back of your neck in embarrassment as you took in the mess of the room. Your latest project became a total and utter failure.
All of a sudden, Kirishima was weirdly aware of everything he did from then on, as he wasn't just talking to one of his friends. He thought to himself, how could he have not seen you before?
"I'm Kirishima." He offered a warm smile, hoping you would return it. He was also hoping his nerves wouldn't kick in since he was talking to a random girl right now.
You let out a soft laugh, followed by the same smile, "Y/N. I already know you, Class 1-A? How could I not know you?" You felt the urge to bite your lip after you spoke, but refrained from showing how nervous you were speaking to someone you had been admiring from afar for a while.
They both stood there for several seconds before Kirishima cleared his throat and awkwardly gestured towards the door, then headed out of the room. Internally cursing himself for being so weird.
Just as Kirishima was about to disappear down the hallway, you peered out the door, fiddling with your bracelet, and then finally plucked the courage to speak again.
"Hey, um, would you mind helping me with something?" Your voice shook with a slight hint of anticipation. This could go two ways, and you hoped it would be the good one.
Kirishima's body stilled at the sound of your voice, not expecting you to call after him as he turned to look at you.
"What's up?" He gave you a small smile as he waited for you to elaborate.
"So.. as you could probably see, my project failed, and I have a new idea, and your quirk is perfect for this."
You finished speaking, making eye contact with Kirishima to gauge his reaction to your request. Your fingers pulled at the edges of your sleeves, impatient for his response.
"Yeah! I can definitely help you with that," he spoke with a bit more enthusiasm than intended, but he was more than willing help you out. That's what he always did: help others out.
"Okay. Great. Um.. Is tomorrow after classes okay for you?" You kept your fingers crossed behind your back since you really wanted to try this out; it might just be the newest successful project you've had in a while.
Kirishima let out a small laugh that came out like a whisper. He noticed you fidgeting and looking at the floor as you spoke.
"Yeah, that should be good," he gave you two thumbs up with a big grin on his face, "See you tomorrow."
He sauntered around the corner, out of sight, his footsteps getting quieter. You let out a sigh that you held for way too long, grabbing your stuff and making your way home.
During your walk home, you thought about the project and considered how you would approach it. Having Kirishima there would really help; his quirk was one of the main reasons it had a high chance of success.
You let yourself go into a calm and quiet state of mind, strolling down the street with an unusually chipper expression on your face.
That was when you remembered you were cooking dinner, and it was about time you should've already arrived home.
"Shit!" You cursed before sprinting straight to your house, trying to be as quick as you possibly could be.
ᶻ 𝗓 𐰁 .ᐟ
The next day rolled around, and as usual, you were working on a random project you got assigned by Power Loader.
Kirishima tapped his fingers against his desk, turning around to glare at the clock. He still had a few hours until he would help you with this new project that he knew nothing about.
Denki glanced at Kirishima, noticing his constant fidgeting and checking the time every five minutes.
"Are you good, bro?" He whisper laughed, trying to be quiet as the teacher was talking about some random fact they had to learn. That would probably be important later, but who cares?
Kirishima tensed, realising that other people in the class had taken notice of his nonstop jittering and fidgeting.
He gave Denki a big thumbs up before scribbling down whatever was on the board, trying to focus on what was happening now, not what he had going on later.
Denki shrugged it off and put his head on the desk, letting out a big yawn before closing his eyes.
Ten minutes later, the bell rang, and everyone started to pack away for lunch. Kirishima stuffed his notebooks and stationery into his bag and then left them under his desk before grabbing his phone and slipping it into his pocket.
"What're you having for lunch today?" Mina asked Kirishima and Denki as she excitedly bounced down the hallway, trying not to get carried away with the lunch hour rush crowd.
He had zoned out from the conversation a while ago, his eyes focused on a familiar figure in the distance. Kirishima noticed the way you smiled at everyone you strolled past, the slight twinkle in your eyes as you sat down with your friends.
You leaned against the table and prodded your friend in the side with your finger, laughing so hard that your arm clutched your stomach.
Kirishima wondered what could be so funny to make you laugh so hard. He realised he had been staring far too long and intently.
"What have you been staring at, muscle man?" Sero hit his arm affectionately, all of his friends eyeing him up with squinted eyes, suspecting the bloom of something between him and someone mysterious.
Kirishima cleared his throat, the tips of his ears turning as crimson as his spikey hair. He suddenly became aware of his hands tugging on the sleeves of his blazer.
"Nothing." his voice cracked slightly, nerves taking over his body. He knew what would happen immediately if his friends knew of his little mission after school today; it would definitely be taken out of context.
Denki inched closer to Kirishima, getting uncomfortably close, "I knew something was up, you were all fidgety in class and shit," he shuffled to the side as Denki decided to air out this information to the rest.
"Yes, we could see that. He's been acting weird since he came back to the dorms yesterday." Mina spoke up, a glint of mischief in her eyes; she knew exactly what was going on.
Kirishima ran a hand through his hair in frustration. He knew he couldn't escape the constant questions and suspicions about him unless he told them what happened.
"Do you know who Y/N is?" his quiet voice broke through the silence of anticipation, and everyone was suddenly intrigued by whatever he had to say next.
"Yes, Y/N from the support course! Where is this going?" Mina raised a brow in interest. They were all on the edges of their seats, well, everyone but Bakugo. He sat there, inhaling his food, staring at Kirishima in boredom.
Kirishima rubbed his neck slowly, "She asked me to help her with a new project of hers today, but don't freak out, it's not like that." his words came out faster than he intended as he rambled, trying to convince his friends that nothing like that was happening.
"Kiri has a little crush!" Denki stupidly exclaimed a little too loudly for Kirishima's comfort. If Y/N heard him shouting that out, she would know immediately it was about her, and Kirishima didn't want that getting back to her when it wasn't true.
Sure, he found her fascinating, but they'd met once, and Kirishima wasn't the type of guy to fall in love with whoever he laid eyes on. Even if the girl in question had a very infectious smile.
"Tch. Shitty hair said it's not like that, you shit." Bakugo grumbled under his breath. He disliked it when the others made a massive deal over nothing, like this, for example. If Kirishima said it was nothing, then that's what it was, and it was none of their business anyway.
Kirishima nervously shifted his gaze to your table, letting out a sigh of relief as you had no idea what was being said over here, and Denki's loud mouth wasn't heard too far.
"Anyways, can we just.. keep this a secret? I don't think she wants to find out that there are rumours spreading because Denki couldn't keep his mouth shut." Kirishima folded his arms over his chest, staring sternly at Denki, who looked down into his lap, a sheepish smile on his face.
He sagged into his seat, his teeth nipped at his lip. Everyone fell into a comfortable, quiet chatter, respecting Kirishima's request and forgetting about the topic they just discussed a mere minute ago.
⋆˚࿔
The bell rang for the final time, and Kirishima hurriedly packed away his stuff before rushing out the door. He didn't want to be late.
All of his friends watched him curiously as he fled across the classroom to the door, already down the hallway in a second. They had never seen him so eager to leave.
Ochaco whispered to Mina, "What's got Kirishima in such a rush?" A smile crept onto Mina's face, but then she remembered what he had said at lunch.
She shrugged nonchalantly, "Probably just ready to get to his room and play video games with Bakugo." Mina tried her best to lie for Kirishima's sake, even though she was so bad at it.
You were currently blowing things up, testing new scraps on old projects that failed, waiting for Kirishima.
Sweat beads formed on your forehead, which you wiped away, a big sigh coming out of your mouth. You scavenged through the disregarded pile, trying to think of what you could do while staring blankly at the paper plan on the table.
For this to work, you needed to analyse Kirishima's quirk to the point that you know it like the back of your hand.
The wheels of your chair creaked every time you slid across the room, grabbing at anything within reach. You raised a brow, switching between the plan and the arrangement of scraps in your arms.
A soft knock took you out of your thoughts, and a smile replaced your perplexed expression. You emptied everything onto the table before hurriedly opening the door.
"Hey! You made it," you rolled up your sleeve to check your watch, "On time." Kirishima gave you a warm smile, trying to hide his heavy breathing from speed walking to the room.
You slid back into your seat and took the plan off the table. You cleared your throat before explaining what you had in mind to Kirishima, who was essentially your test subject in this project.
"So.. I need you to use your quirk. I'm thinking of making skin armour that essentially has the same effect as using your quirk, but I need to know what materials are similar and how to mimic the activation."
You let out a small sigh of satisfaction, finishing up the last details of your plan to Kirishima. You stared up at him with hopeful eyes, wanting to hear if he had anything to say anything about your idea.
Kirishima's fingers rested on his chin, nodding his head occasionally whilst making sounds of approval. The idea intrigued him, and he felt flattered that you wanted to make something based on him and his quirk; it was like the best compliment he had ever gotten.
His ears and neck reddened. Feeling shy all of a sudden, he grabbed at his tie and readjusted it. Once you were done speaking, Kirishima gave you a big thumbs up.
"I really like the idea! Could be useful to have that sort of armour on whilst having a different quirk in battle!" He sounded his approval to you, earning a dazzling smile, and that twinkle in your eyes was back.
"I can ask if we can use the training grounds? I think here.." you looked around reluctantly, "It's a bit cluttered," you added with a sheepish grin, remembering what you had been doing hours before that resulted in the room looking like this.
Kirishima gave you a swift nod, and that was enough for you to rush out of the room, come back in the next minute and return the thumbs up he gave you earlier.
You quickly snatched a notebook off the desk behind you, and you both headed to the training grounds. Silently, walking next to each other, a few feet of distance between you.
"So, how's it like being in 1-A?" You broke the silence with an inquisition you wanted to ask anyone in 1-A for a while; this was the first interaction you'd had with anyone from the class.
"It's so cool, we get to experience new things all the time, and I can definitely say I don't regret coming here at all." He spoke with such fondness, a feeling you wish you could experience, but being in the support course was just as amazing for you.
Kirishima turned to you, his head slightly tilting, causing a lock of red hair to fall over his eye. You gazed into his warm, scarlet eyes, and a small smile crept on your face before you returned your focus to your feet as you walked.
You had admired Kirishima for so long; it felt a little surreal to you that he was willing to help you with this. You were beyond grateful for what he was doing, and you didn't want to waste the chance of trying anything.
The training grounds were completely empty, well, obviously. You rushed to sit on the rock, making yourself comfortable since you'd be in here for quite some time.
"I hope you don't mind spending a lot of your time on this; you can opt out if you want to!" You added, you wanted Kirishima to feel as comfortable as possible, and if that meant he didn't want to help anymore after today, that was fine. Although you kinda hoped he didn't opt out.
"Nah, all good, I want to help, this seems cool." He gave you another one of those smiles; it made your heart melt slightly. He had some sort of charisma to him; maybe that's why he's been your favourite in 1-A.
He left briefly and appeared in his hero costume, looking readier than ever. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath in before hardening his skin, activating his quirk.
You analyzed the instant his skin went hard and how it reacted to his quirk, scribbling down anything that would be useful to you. Every inch of his skin, you scrutinised intently, trying your best to come up with ideas in your head already, with what you had so far.
"I can do more, if you want." He sounded breathless, his brows furrowing as he hardened his skin even further. A small wince escaped his lips, and he hoped you didn't take notice of that as he glanced at you, scribbling more notes down.
You noticed his arm start to bleed, "Oh my god, you're bleeding," a hand went over your mouth in worry. The notebook and pen you were holding now resided on the floor as you rushed to his side.
Kirishima deactivated his quirk as soon as you mentioned blood; he hadn't realised he pushed too far.
Your legs moved before your brain could process anything, and you ran back to the closest room you recognised, frantically opening every cabinet until you found a first aid kit.
When you made it back, Kirishima was calmly clutching onto his arm, patiently waiting for you. You had no idea how he wasn't freaking out because that's exactly what you were doing.
"It's fine, this happens more than you think. Sorry, you shouldn't have to see this." He apologised sincerely, a blush creeping on his cheeks, embarrassed that you saw him lose control of his quirk.
"Don't be silly! Why would you be apologetic for getting hurt? Come here, let me clean your wound." Your forehead creased as your brows furrowed, taken aback that Kirishima would even think of apologising for getting hurt.
You grabbed a cotton pad with rubbing alcohol, "This'll hurt, sorry." Giving him a quick warning before pressing the small pad down with your finger, biting your lip when Kirishima winced.
You apologised softly multiple times as you gently cleaned his wound, your finger grazing his arm every so often.
The way you sat next to each other meant your knees touched ever so slightly. Kirishima noticed that and felt goosebumps every time they brushed.
Kirishima watched you carefully as you concentrated on cleaning his injury, a strand of your hair falling over your eye. His fist rested on his knee, clenched, fighting the urge to move it behind your ear.
You had been so kind to him, and he had never met someone with so much affection towards him. That activated every protective aspect of his personality.
With a sigh of relief, you finished up, feeling grateful that his injury was only minor. You felt a slight twinge of guilt; he only got hurt because he was helping you.
Your head hung low as you packed the first aid kit away, keeping quiet as Kirishima shuffled around behind you.
He knew you probably felt really guilty and started to panic slightly. None of this was your fault, and he wanted to say something to make you forget about it all.
"Thanks, you're a really kind person, Y/N." Kirishima's voice softened, and there was a genuine smile on his lips; his eyes crinkled in the corners.
Your heartbeat fastened, the thoughts of guilt you once had replaced with tenderness. He thought you were kind and gazed at you with a look in his eyes that could make you melt into the floor.
Kirishima glanced at the clock on the wall, "It's getting a bit late," he swallowed the lump in his throat when he watched your expression turn glum, "I'd better get going."
As you watched Kirishima collect his things to head out, you felt your heart thump so hard that its sound was audible in your ears. You would never admit it out loud, you may have developed a small crush on him as you constantly searched for him at events, he was your favourite after all.
Kirishima moved closer to you, giving you a toothy grin, "See you." His eyes never left yours as he backed away to the door, his gaze saying more than words could ever.
