but have you ever even heard of the fynbos biome ?!!?!?!?!
a biome so unique in south africa that it's earned an entirely new biome classification for itself. so many plants are endemic to this area, and ofc it's under threat of extinction.

You are forced to live in only one type of biome for the rest of your life, how do you react? You can leave and visit other countries or places, but only if they are in the same biome:
Spin the wheel to find out your biome.
Your Reaction:
Heck yes! I have always wanted to live in this kind of area!
Alright. Not the dream, but very nice.
Ok. Not at all what I was hoping for, but it could be worse.
Oh this sucks. I am going to hate this so so so much.
This is like telling me I have to live in hell. Please please please NO

im writing a research paper rn and I just wrote down that the lion prides have a matriarchal structure and goodle docs marked it as misspelled (yk, that curly red line appears under a word when you spell it wrong) and when I clicked the word to see why, I saw that the suggested word is PATRIARCHAL. kill. your. fucking. self. #MATRIARCHAL. I KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT YOU STUPID BITCH
I have a paleoecology question!
Since tropical rainforests didn’t exist until recently, what sort of ecosystem would have existed in a wet, forested equatorial area?
I imagine it would be something sorta similar, only with different flora—more gymnosperms and the like. Of course this would vary based on which period of the Mesozoic it’s in, but like, what sort of ecosystems *would’ve* existed?
It would be a less dense tropical forest! It’s impossible to provide an example bc the ubiquity of grass, but think of the redwood forests of California, or the warmer tree fern forests of Aotearoa. There were just endless forests during the Mesozoic but they were all not particularly dense and nothing like forests today. It also depends on when in the Mesozoic - Jurassic forests were lousy with cycads, but by the end of the Cretaceous flowering plants were starting to take off and you could find palms and the like.
